The First Mormon President? Does Faith Matter? [Yes, indeed!!! Lest we have a false god leading USA]

...Romney keeps his focus simple: fix the economy. But others are fixated on something else: his faith.

SNIP

Some call it a cult...

Yet Mormons call themselves Christians, which raises eyebrows, especially within evangelical circles.

Shawn McCraney is a former Mormon who now hosts a show called, 'Heart of the Matter," where he witnesses to Mormons in Salt Lake City.

"...I didn't know the Lord and that led me to an internal angst."

"What happened was I came to realize that there was nothing I could do to get myself right before God -- where with Mormonism...it's you have to do it," he explained. "He gives you the opportunity, but it's up to you to perform, and I couldn't perform."

...any controversy over a Mormon president may...center on...whether Romney would put loyalty to the Mormon Church ahead of anything else.

Former Mormon and author Michael Moody has written the book, Mitt, Set Our People Free...

"When I was a little boy, the Mormon prophet was a more important man than the president of the United States," Moody told CBN News.

"Mitt Romney has knelt in the Mormon temples," he noted. "He has taken an oath of consecration. He has taken an oath of sacrifice. He has said that he will sacrifice everything that he is, and give all of his talents, and everything that he has and is to the Mormon Church."

...Moody said a Romney victory would be a big deal for the Mormon Church.

"If Mitt Romney gets in the White House, it's going to be a sign to all of the Mormon people that they're on the right path, that this is the truth, and it's going to help perpetuate their missionary program. It's going to put the Mormon Church in a more powerful position..."

Red, if you don’t like it, go elsewhere...or you could complain to the mods, at least the ones who are still here.

Keep up the good work, Mormonism must be exposed, it is an eternal issue. My family member left FR because they became disgusted at the hostility towards people exposing Mormonism, they said don’t start posting again - I should have listened. It appears there are some people so consumed with fear they are not capable of seeing the eternal.

Well, people can try to submerge the posters...but we need to realize that the "spirit of Nauvoo" -- the spirit behind the destruction of the Nauvoo Expositor in 1844...never left this earth.

He was upset with Joseph Smith being exposed in 1844; he'll certainly be upset with Joseph Smith being exposed in 2012.

No matter what posters say to me, I try to remember: "We wrestle NOT vs. flesh & blood..." (Eph. 6:12)

MHG is not my enemy; Jesus dearly loves MHG.

Those who have attempted to belittle me -- or you -- on this and other threads...are loved by Christ as well.

Mitt Romney's not our enemy; Jesus loves Mitt.

Mormons are not our enemies; the true Christ loves them.

Obama & the Democrats are not our enemies...Christ loves them as well...

All of the above are of tremendous value to our Lord...

We wrestle with the spirit to break into the darkness with light...

It's a struggle...the wrestlers of Paul's day were quite brutal. Be an Olympian in this struggle.

Jerry Falwell used to say that he absolutely supported a Mormon’s right to witness. This is called freedom.

Christians have a freedom of conscience. If your conscience doesn’t allow you to vote for a Mormon, that is your business entirely.

But my conscience is telling me that Mr. Obama and his HHS is forcing my fellow Christians to suffer terrible financial harm for standing up for life in the womb. He’s also forcing YOU to pay, through your tax dollars and through your health insurance, for children to be killed in the womb. In addition, you are forced to subsidize, through your tax dollars, public schools and institutions that will promote homosexual behavior in our young people. Christian adoption agencies will eventually be forced to close throughout the land, and orphans will be forced into same-sex parented households.

My conscience will absolutely allow me to vote for a Mormon to put a stop to this kind of evil.

A true communist could NOT believe i the one true God. Communism is the anti-religion and its purpose at founding was to get rid of religion and grow the state. Communism by its writings and practices places man’s reliance on man and not God. It is human centric and not faith based.

That's how it worked out in the Soviet Union, of course. But millions of Chinese people are being saved. They might think communism is just a system whereby the poor are being taken care of.

I'm simply talking about wealth redistribution. Someone can believe in Christ and think a 75% tax bracket is fine if you're "rich." I believe they are wrong, but I do not believe their salvation is up to me to question.

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were deists. John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and William Howard Taft were Unitarians. Abraham Lincoln was a skeptic until his experience of leading the nation during the Civil War.

By Fundamentalist Protestant standards, it's possible that the only "true chrstian" who ever sat in the White House was James A. Garfield.

No, this is not a defense of mormonism. It is pointing out that there has always been a powerful "enlightenment" element in both the American Founding and in its government since then.

After further thought I am saddened , it has appeared you have abandoned Christ for Romney. Of course that is your choice, good bye dear FR friend and relish in your new found comfort, it appears it rests no longer in Christ but in Romney.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Give it a rest

You are kidding; right?

we can rest after we get home after our year tour!

Right now, we hit the streets 6 days a week 10 hours a day, telling all who will listen how screwed up Christianity was until the Blessed Joseph Smith received the Restoration from GOD!!!

As a Christian, I don’t understand how ANYONE could prefer Obama. So I assume you’re not Christian?

As a Christian, I don’t understand how ANYONE could prefer ROMNEY! So I assume that since you're Christian; you are not very well informed about MORMONism???

It doesn't matter if that 'neighbor' is on Slum Road or Pennsylvania Avenue, what religion someone follows falls within their right of conscience, IMHO.

Likewise; my voting for any person can hinge upon any test I want to apply to them; right?
