VATICAN CITY—The Vatican has condemned Saturday’s violent clashes in central Rome including an attack by protesters on a church in which a crucifix and a statue of the Virgin Mary were destroyed.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said he “condemned the violence and the fact that a church was desecrated by some protesters who broke in and destroyed some images.” He referred to the clashes in Rome as “horrific.”

The 18th-century church of Santi Marcellino and Pietro is near St John Lateran square where much of Saturday’s violence occurred.

“When I came down, I saw the entrance door had been smashed in,” the church’s parish priest, Father Giuseppe Ciucci, was quoted by Italian media as saying.

“The Virgin Mary’s statue, which was at the entrance, had been taken away and I saw it had been thrown into the street and smashed,” he said.

“I went into the sacristy and I saw the door there was also destroyed. The large crucifix at the entrance had been vandalized,” he added.

Hundreds of protesters torched cars, smashed banks and hurled rocks at police during the clashes. Tens of thousands of people had been protesting against government cutbacks and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Sounds to me like you would be one who would love to join these protesters.

You got that right, the truth is that the Nazis were socialists, just like the communists as the KKK were Democrats here in the USA. Tonight I watch a wonderful presentation of Sunday Night Prime with Father Benedict Grouchel and he interviewed Dr. Alice Von Hildrebrand about her late husband Districh Von Hildrebrand and Hitler. It was a learning experience indeed. Learned about the interesting times we are living in.

"Because ours here in the states, at least the ones I know, are as conservative as I am."

NO, it's not about Italy; it's about the nation that God has blessed more than any other in the history of the world, this country. I know there are a good many conservative non-Catholic Christians in some parts of the country. Whole groups of them like the majority of Southern Baptists for example. Nationally, though, no way conservative non-Catholics are anything like the majority. Even the people who point to “non-denominational” groups growing are deluding themselves because every bit as many people so broad minded that their brains fell out attend what they like to call non-denominational churches as do conservative folks. One of my wife’s’ cousins worships toad stools or something like that and she says she’s a non-denominational Christian as do the tree worshipers and the pot worshipers she runs with.

We’re undergoing worst Satanic attack in the history of this nation, in the history of the Western world in fact (you know, what used to be Christendom?) and more people are worried about whether their church is staying “meaningful” in an Oprah sort of way than whether or not they’re effectively standing up for Christ. This nation claims to be and is the most Protestant Christian nation in history but legally aborts nearly two million infants a year. That sort of statement is neither harsh nor kind, it’s just a fact. Facts like other interesting facts that were on WND a while back such as most “Christians” in this country have changed their denomination and church affiliation more often than they have their brand of toothpaste. If you want harsh, let me know and I’ll work on it, but up til now I’ve just been stating facts.

True, but let's name names. Satan. The fact that people don't even want to admit that bastard is slinking around is half the problem.

The “enemy” name can alos be use and it is NOT half the problem. Plus was told the less the enemy’s name is mention, the less attention the enemy is given.

Since you brought up how this forum complains about blacks, link me to those posts.

And the WW2 pope who told the US to keep black soldiers out of Rome... and why.

Humbly signed, not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

And, please provide your documented sources of information.

Protestant sects are ultimately about self-declared dogma with no authority other than popularity (voting on dogma).
Due to the Fall, that automatically deteriorates into dogmatic declarations in favor of sin:

holy homosexual “marriage”
holy divorce and remarriage
holy women pastors
holy proud actively homosexual bishops
holy abortion
holy birth control

Catholicism is filled with sinners, but does not change dogma to accomodate the sins and the sinners. Catholics in authority do not alter dogma to accomodate sin.

The very first protestant sect began by altering dogma to accomodate sin. It continues to this day.

It is absurd that after WWII Italy outlawed the Fascist Party but not the Communist Party; now they’re reaping what they sowed.

While the anti-Catholic violence is not new to Europe, Italy played a key role in helping Franco defeat the evil miscreants who did this to statues (and people) in Madrid & Barcelona in 1936.

One thing it tells me is they know Protestants aren't a threat. Protestants are either cowering on the sidelines collecting "Precious Moments" trinkets while patting themselves on the back for having a queer as their Pastor, or they have their noses in books about how the big extraction will snatch them all out of harms way before the battle gets much worse.

You are a nasty piece of work. Fortunately I know many Catholics who are intelligent as to counteract your incredible ignorance, bigotry and hatred.

Why, thank you very much.

Could you link me to something similar you've said about the unbridled hatred and lies spewed about Catholics so frequently on the FR Religion Forum? I'd really like to see what you told the guy who said everything any Catholic said was vomit (odd you have that word in your name) or what you had to say to the person who was back on the old, “Whore of Babylon” kick not so long ago.

Really, where can I find those posts where you said something like, “I know a lot of [Pentecostals, Calvinists, Fundamentalists, Independent Baptists] who are intelligent and as to counteract your incredible ignorance, bigotry, and hatred”. You know, after enough hatred and bigotry thrown out by the rabid anti-Catholics sometimes someone at least needs to speak the truth very clearly and that's all I did. Facts are facts, not bigotry or hatred.

Now, how about those posts of yours ....

I recall, 3 years ago, many liberal friends of mine were “outraged” by the so-called bad behavior of tea-partiers during the summer town-hall events.
I remember one of them saying “yelling doesn’t solve anything!”

These same people have been awfully quiet these past 2 weeks.

Our Lady of Fatima warned us that the Holy Father including the Catholic Church will have much to suffer.....That is why the Consecration of Russia to the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Heart must be done without delay! We see right before our very own eyes there is no respect for the Holy Mother of God, we see that many do not respect the Holy Mother most likely they do not respect their earthly Mother as well.....and definately do not respect women period!
