VIOLENT ROME PROTEST Policemen stand in front of the Basilica of Saint John Lateran during a demonstration in Rome on Saturday, October 15, 2011, as part of a global day of protests inspired by the "Occupy Wall Street" and "Indignant" movements, with the Italian capital under a security lockdown. VATICAN CITYThe Vatican has condemned Saturday’s violent clashes in central Rome including an attack by protesters on a church in which a crucifix and a statue of the Virgin Mary were destroyed.
Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said he “condemned the violence and the fact that a church was desecrated by some protesters who broke in and destroyed some images.” He referred to the clashes in Rome as “horrific.”
The 18th-century church of Santi Marcellino and Pietro is near St John Lateran square where much of Saturday’s violence occurred.
“When I came down, I saw the entrance door had been smashed in,” the church’s parish priest, Father Giuseppe Ciucci, was quoted by Italian media as saying.
“The Virgin Mary’s statue, which was at the entrance, had been taken away and I saw it had been thrown into the street and smashed,” he said.
“I went into the sacristy and I saw the door there was also destroyed. The large crucifix at the entrance had been vandalized,” he added.
Hundreds of protesters torched cars, smashed banks and hurled rocks at police during the clashes. Tens of thousands of people had been protesting against government cutbacks and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

My heart weeps to see this image.
Father, forgive the ones of your Heart who know not what they do.

A demonstrator celebrates as a Carabinieri police vehicle burns during a demonstration of the "Indignant" group in Rome on Saturday.
May God have MERCY on the protesters because they WILL answer to the King of King.
Coming soon to a city near you. Notice how mobs in Western European countries never attack mosques.
That photo makes my heart hurt.
So, they want to tear down Christ and shatter Mary. That speaks volumes about where this is coming from.
They know that the mosques have the ability and will to strike back 10-fold, and would decimate them.
We will be in Rome on Tuesday.....yikes.
The protestors are protesting their God and Mother? Good luck with that.
BTW, your link led me to another,
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/76893/there%e2%80%99s-no-apocalypse-in-fatima%e2%80%99s-3rd-secret
which can only lead one to a conclusion opposite from the title: “Theres no apocalypse in Fatimas 3rd secret”
Now that pisses me off.
destructive no good b@$t@rds filled with nothing by hate — no respect, no decency — parasites
People need to scour the list of groups getting grants from the commingling CCHD to see which ones have posted notes of support for the “occupy” movement that is now attacking churches.
Am I on your ping list? Please add me if I’m not.
Who, no idea how “upcoming” got mutilated into that word above-lol
The Communist Party is still pretty strong in Italy. No question they’ve sent their activists into the streets to take advantage of this moment. Their hatred of the Church is of long standing.
Same here, BTW. The core of these Occupations is the hard left in all its permutations, including the Community Organizer In Chief.
One thing it tells me is they know Protestants aren't a threat. Protestants are either cowering on the sidelines collecting "Precious Moments" trinkets while patting themselves on the back for having a queer as their Pastor, or they have their noses in books about how the big extraction will snatch them all out of harms way before the battle gets much worse.
The other thing it tells me is that they recognize Iz Lame as fellow fascists and their natural ally the same way Hitler did.
Awful - bunch of sick souls, very sick souls.
Same beast, different name.
Good point! I spent many years visiting relatives in Italy. On one such visit, my 8 y/o niece asked me to accompany her to the "Festa de l'Unita". It didn't take long to realize this was a communist sponsored event intended to indoctrinate the next generation into their mindset. My niece is now a neurosurgeon, married with 2 girls of her own and, fortunately, none the worse for the exposure.
“That is funny that they never attack Mosques....or even Protestant Churches!!! What does THAT tell you?? “
It tells me everything.

Thank you! I will keep this in mind the next time I get bashed by a protestant.
this is what being pro heterosexual brings...
a statue is just so much plaster...insurance will replace it for a few hundred dollars....the symbolic gesture is what worries me....where does the hatred come from?? Why attack any religious site?? If you don't like current conditions, work, to constructively change them. If it's not yours, leave your worthless hands off of it because if you can justify your actions, it means that you justify someone else putting their hands on you or your property
LOL!! Precious Moments trinkets!!!!!!!
yeah, sure - whatever - as long as you're not talking about pedophile priests - are you sure they're all accounted for? Got all those lawsuits paid up? Didn't want to bring it up, but as long as we're in stone-casting mode...
The Church I belong to is made up entirely of sinners in need of God’s grace - even the leaders (imagine that!).
Please send me a pamphlet about your religion of the sinless with its sinless leaders - I would like to review it carefully so that I can consider joining.
"Protestants are either cowering on the sidelines collecting "Precious Moments" trinkets while patting themselves on the back for having a queer as their Pastor"
I haven't seen a single negative reply from any of you over that - quite the opposite, in fact. Yes, the true church everywhere is made up of saved sinners - including my own local church - imagine that!. I was merely pointing out the some of the hypocrisy in this thread.
actually i was referring to the the queers in the protest movement that attacked the church, but as the saying goes, throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the that gets hit yelps...
riiiiight.....
It is not by your icons but by your deeds that God will know you although I could give a damn about what is left of the Catholics, they have the name..........if that.
As Catholic Spain went nuts and ultimately destroyed everything that reminded them of individual versus Collective sacrifice.
Anyway as I recall at least one Pope WW2 told the US to keep Black Soldiers out of Rome, when it was occupied by American forces, those soldiers are long gone and yet the descendants of those who lived in Rome then are still here.Much as some of the stupider Catholics keep complaining about the Blaques on this forum.
Ultimately the Papacy brings these kinds of things on its own head although otherwise Rome is a very nice city.
If a religion would return to its Universal roots,to God instead of the concept that man makes his own God through imagery through tricks...........then maybe the Vatican won’t be an empty seat forever.
That’s pretty harsh.
Is that about Protestants in Italy only? Because ours here in the states, at least the ones I know, are as conservative as I am.
>>Much as some of the stupider Catholics keep complaining about the Blaques on this forum.<<
When?
I’ve been here 10 years more than you and this is the first I’ve heard about Blaques.
You just might be an idiot...
Perhaps you will also recall the words, “and upon this rock, I will build my church”?
All this violence comes from one source, the enemy.
May you be reminded of that Gospel passage, “that the gates of hell will not prevail against it”.
In the end, Amighty God and His Church WILL prevail.
Yes, yes, and yes. Thanks Tzar.
Sounds to me like you would be one who would love to join these protesters.
You got that right, the truth is that the Nazis were socialists, just like the communists as the KKK were Democrats here in the USA. Tonight I watch a wonderful presentation of Sunday Night Prime with Father Benedict Grouchel and he interviewed Dr. Alice Von Hildrebrand about her late husband Districh Von Hildrebrand and Hitler. It was a learning experience indeed. Learned about the interesting times we are living in.
NO, it's not about Italy; it's about the nation that God has blessed more than any other in the history of the world, this country. I know there are a good many conservative non-Catholic Christians in some parts of the country. Whole groups of them like the majority of Southern Baptists for example. Nationally, though, no way conservative non-Catholics are anything like the majority. Even the people who point to non-denominational groups growing are deluding themselves because every bit as many people so broad minded that their brains fell out attend what they like to call non-denominational churches as do conservative folks. One of my wifes cousins worships toad stools or something like that and she says shes a non-denominational Christian as do the tree worshipers and the pot worshipers she runs with.
Were undergoing worst Satanic attack in the history of this nation, in the history of the Western world in fact (you know, what used to be Christendom?) and more people are worried about whether their church is staying meaningful in an Oprah sort of way than whether or not theyre effectively standing up for Christ. This nation claims to be and is the most Protestant Christian nation in history but legally aborts nearly two million infants a year. That sort of statement is neither harsh nor kind, its just a fact. Facts like other interesting facts that were on WND a while back such as most Christians in this country have changed their denomination and church affiliation more often than they have their brand of toothpaste. If you want harsh, let me know and Ill work on it, but up til now Ive just been stating facts.
Regards
The “enemy” name can alos be use and it is NOT half the problem. Plus was told the less the enemy’s name is mention, the less attention the enemy is given.
Since you brought up how this forum complains about blacks, link me to those posts.
And the WW2 pope who told the US to keep black soldiers out of Rome... and why.
Humbly signed, not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
You stated that so much better than I would have.
WHO was the WWII Pope who “told the US to keep Black Soldiers out of Rome, when it was occupied by American forces...?”
And, please provide your documented sources of information.
Protestant sects are ultimately about self-declared dogma with no authority other than popularity (voting on dogma).
Due to the Fall, that automatically deteriorates into dogmatic declarations in favor of sin:
holy homosexual “marriage”
holy divorce and remarriage
holy women pastors
holy proud actively homosexual bishops
holy abortion
holy birth control
Catholicism is filled with sinners, but does not change dogma to accomodate the sins and the sinners. Catholics in authority do not alter dogma to accomodate sin.
The very first protestant sect began by altering dogma to accomodate sin. It continues to this day.
It is absurd that after WWII Italy outlawed the Fascist Party but not the Communist Party; now they’re reaping what they sowed.
While the anti-Catholic violence is not new to Europe, Italy played a key role in helping Franco defeat the evil miscreants who did this to statues (and people) in Madrid & Barcelona in 1936.
