You either believe in Freedom or you don’t. If we aren’t fighting for the freedom of Afghanis to Choose their own religion, we shouldn’t be fighting. The only way to defeat terror is freedom. That ain’t Freedom.

I understand the military’s rationale, but you’re right, plain talk, the timing is rotten. I wasn’t aware of the “Prime Directive” mentioned. A Christian soldier truly has to consider how to balance the military authority he serves with the Higher Authority that gives conflicting commands (Matthew 28:19-20 and 1 Peter 3:15 as a start).

I’m a former officer myself, and I understand that service in the armed forces requires the member to relinquish some civil liberties. This is way out on the boundary of that, though - ultimately, the believer has to serve God first, or their very oath of enlistment is called into question.
