85% recover on their own in three weeks. The rest take up to 6 months, but still recover. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell%27s_palsy

Still, I can see where this would bother you, and I ask God that your recovery be swift. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayers sent

Take your steroids, stay out of drafts.

I had it some years ago and it lasted over 2 months. During that time I had to fly to the UK and give a presentation to senior management and beg for money for a project. I totally lost control of the meeting when the execs couldn’t keep a straight face due to my eye patch and my inability to keep a straight face. They seemed to believe that I was “having them on”.

On the trip back I awoke suddenly, hearing a small boy yelling “Pirate! Pirate! Pirate!” as he ran down the aisle away from me. His mommy had to escort him to the toilets.

I can laugh about it now but at the time it was NOT a pleasant experience. Here’s hoping yours clears itself up SOON.

Good luck to you! I had that for about 3-4 weeks when I was about 21. I did visit a neurologist and got a c-scan to rule out anything like a tumor as I had suffered no trauma. Everything came back clear and they determined it was just some unknown inflammation of that nerve and told me it would "probably" go away on it's own. Sure enough...it did.

But I remembered and regretted all those times when I was a kid and made fun of people who had medical conditions that were beyond their control. Not cool! I hope it resolves for you quickly. It's kinda scary and I remember being self concious about it even though most people didn't even notice it.

Prayers up.

I have a friend who was afflicted with that. Their nerve did regenerate. It did take some time, but they have gotten over it.

I’ll pray for you.

Prayers up. But don’t let it wreck your self-esteem. Famous sufferers of Bell’s Palsy include several people considered among the sexiest in the world: George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan, Katie Holmes. (It’s probably partly the enigmatic Bell’s smile.) Also, David Frum, Sen. Norm Coleman, Canadian Premier Jean Cretien, and Gen. Curtis LeMay.

Had it myself when younger. Doctors don't really know what causes it. Leave it alone (don't go for electric treatments or that stuff). In a week or so it will go away by itself.

Endure the discomfort, all will be fine.

Prayers for you, Marthemaria.

The paralysis usually goes away within a couple of months, or so.

One thing that might be helpful is to buy some Glad Press’n Seal wrap ( http://www.glad.com/plasticwrap/pressnseal.php ). It makes a good eyepatch to keep your eyelid closed. That helps to keep the eye from getting debris in it, especially when you are trying to sleep at night.

You can put a piece of it over your eyelid during the day, when you have to be out and about, and put sunglasses on over it. It is less noticeable than a regular eyepatch; and, as I said, it helps to keep debris out of the eye. Also, it helps to keep the eye from drying as quickly.

Ditto that. My very beautiful niece came down with Bell’s Palsy a few weeks before her wedding in Ireland. It took a couple of months, but now she’s back to about 98%. Hang in there.
