It is the proclamation of Jesus Christ, the “Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16), who died and rose from the dead. In the time of King Herod and the Emperor Caesar Augustus, God fulfilled the promises that he made to Abraham and his descendants. He sent “his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” (Galatians 4:4-5).

80. How is the Good News spread?

425-429

From the very beginning the first disciples burned with the desire to proclaim Jesus Christ in order to lead all to faith in him. Even today, from the loving knowledge of Christ there springs up in the believer the desire to evangelize and catechize, that is, to reveal in the Person of Christ the entire design of God and to put humanity in communion with him.

“Do you know?”

Yep.

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t believe women should be pastors of churches. I do not see anywhere in Scripture that this is condoned, in fact, I read in I Timothy 2:12, that Paul said a woman should not teach or be in authority (usurping) over men. The role of pastor is a position of authority over the congregation.

Maybe you might read about Deborah, there apparently were no men around to usurp.

I remember reading that the son was more of a standard Christian— not the feel-good Christianity-lite. I think Dad didn’t like this. I can see why. It would be a rebuke to Dad’s philosophy, and he would likely take it personally. The Chrystal Cathedral has had some financial concerns over the last few years. Dad probably didn’t want to risk losing more by scaring away congregants with a more challenging call to faith.

I hope his son is a real Christian, unlike his father.

In Judges 4 Deborah was a judge and prophetess God appointed to lead Israel, and who was with them to lead them against the Canaanites, right?

God used many other examples of strong and faithful women in his word. Some early Christians had women serving as deacons and many served the church through their labors, money and travelling and taking care of the apostles. They did many great works for the Lord in the chrch and still do including teaching children and women. I just believe the role of the pastor as an authority figure in a congregation of men, women and children is best served by a strong God-fearing man. It avoids the all-to-human nature problems that come from jealousy and resentment that makes men feel in a less authoritative role than that which should resemble the one in their family as well. We are given the hierarchical example of wives, being submissive to their husbands, husbands loving their wives as Christ loves the church and Christ being the head of the church.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing.

There is NO requirement for woman to submit herself unto a man IF the man is NOT fulfilling his role. Now it takes a learned woman to know IF that man is fulfilling his role.

Positive thinking is not what anyone would consider to be the historic Christian gospel.

"Call me old fashioned, but I don’t believe women should be pastors of churches."

If you look at recent history, female Pastors are one of the first steps toward total apostasy. All of the old mainline protestant denominations which have gone apostate (ie. pro gay marriage and gay pastor, pro abortion, denial of Jesus as exclusive path to salvation) started by allowing female pastors. This downward spiral mirrors what Paul describes in Romans 1 perfectly.
