The church is reaping what it has sown and today's churches are evidence of it.
Keep an eye on the news. Osteen's coverage has been increasing quite a bit in the media, and you will almost never read an article on him without reading about his popularity and the fact that he has the largest church congregation in the country.
I believe you are referring to the Roman Catholic Church here, correct? If so, and if you have stated it accurately, the Church had to have their reasons to adopt such changes in their previous position. What were those reasons?
Regarding this whole thread, I am struck by the endless arguments over who can or cannot enter in the Kingdom of God. Some steadfastly hold to the belief that only Catholics, who confess their mortal sins and are forgiven by a priest, of course, have a key to life everlasting with God. They challenge the notion that non-Catholics, through ignorance which is not of their own fault, also can be accepted into Heaven.
Bible quote after bible quote, they argue on and on. Obviously they enjoy it and view all the time given to research their positions to be of utmost importance. Whatever and whoever may not be receiving some much-needed care and attention because of their desired dedication to debate may just be a legitimate question.
Is God viewing all these squabbles, which I doubt change anyone's mind at the end of day, as glorifying Him?
One can "interpret" for the whole of their life but none will know everything about God in this life.
Acknowledging that, I will state that I cannot believe that Almighty God damns to Hell those not Catholic, simply because they aren't.
