Mike Walker on the Al Rantel Show: "If We're Wrong, Rush Could Own Us"
790am KABC Radio
Posted on 10/09/2003 8:14:20 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
Mike Walker of the National Enquirer has been on the Al Rantel show for the past two hours discussing the story which his paper broke about Rush Limbaugh's dependence on prescription drugs, obtained illegally through his housekeeper. As Mike said, if this story was erroneous, Rush could sue them out of business. The National Enquirer did all kinds of checking before going with this story. He said they only paid for the story from the housekeeper after she had already gone to the police with her story and evidence.
But the most upsetting thing Mike Walker and Al discussed is the possibility that oxicontin (?) causes deafness and that Rush may have caused his own deafness by taking up to 30 or so pills a day. That is a horrible thought.
My wish is that Rush gets on the radio, comes clean about his addiction, and gets the help he needs. The longer he waits to do this, the worse it will be for him, in all sorts of ways. The police are apparently more interested in busting dealers than users in this sort of situation, but the housekeeper and her husband received immunity with their statements to the police. The claim is that Rush also was receiving UPS deliveries of pills from another source. Whatever the case, he should come clean.

I am being patient on all this. Life doesnt happen at the speed of light.
It hasnt been a week since Rush told the truth and got fired for it....and the Enquirer may be in possesion of illegally recorded tapes outing drug abuse ... and we have heard from everyone who cares to get the first jabs in...including the police who know nothing.....but everyone agrees that Rush was right in his ESPN role, and may have been fired in haste....and Rush is still on the air and the sky isnt falling....and sorid dirty laundry is paraded around in full view for all to see........

That is great to hear! Rush Limbaugh is a hero to me...and to the Conservative movement. I don't know what will be more enjoyable...hearing that the charges were untrue, Rush kicking the Enquirer's sorry @$$ all over the Sunshine State, watching his critics eat their words, or personally calling them up (Howard Stern, for example) and giving them Holy Hell!!! Give the Maha Rushie my regards!!! HUBBA HUBBA HUBBA!!! DOOBA DOOBA DOOBA!!!

You'd best embrace Rushbo and tell him to come clean. That would be my best advice if you are his friend. He should do it sooner rather than later.

That's because you didn't build up a tolerance.
Even though an addict may build up a tolerance, there is a physical limit to how much a person can take before it will destroy their health. Also, the reason for the addiction is much more than a mere avoindance of withdrawal. There is a change in self perception that is at the root of all addictions. It does not mean a "stupor", but the addiction takes precedence over everything else in life at a certain point. It becomes more important than sleep, eating, or work. The loved ones of an addict become affected as well as co-dependent.
How much is is "pretty strong"? is it 30 doses in a day? It still does not seem probable.

Anyone who took 30 oxycontin pills in one day would die.Depends on the strength of the pill. People with opioid tolerance may take a 160mg pill twice daily. 320mg, that's 32 10mg pills.

Your post holds lots of truth, IMHO.
Why couldn't someone else in the Limbaugh household have become addicted? Not that I'm accusing anyone, but I recall the Osbourne boy recently told about how he was addicted to OxyContin as well. It seems to be a fashionable teen drug and teens buy from street pushers.
I am content in the knowledge that I trust Rush. When the time is right he'll tell us what we need to know. In the meantime, I'll concentrate on improving my own weaknesses.

Rush's silence is my evidence. Yes, I'm a Rush fan and I listen to him whenever I can.
What's your gig?

Are you sure you meant to post to me? Reread my post 155. I specifically stated that almost everything is based on rumor or paid ex-con stories. BTW, if you REALLY talk to Rush frequently, tell him thanks for keeping a conservative from going crazy in Austin for twenty years.

Remember, you are not a mindless ball of mush. Act accordingly! Just a hunch...did you hear the show?
He's going down(er). ;)

Rush has buried people in the past. Till this day, some of them still don't realize it. As when he buried DU this week?
LOL

People believe what they want and perception is reality. Exactly right! Why won't Rush deny the pill-gate charges?
To: Cinnamon Girl
I heard about an hour and a half of the interview. If true, I hope he gets the help he needs, but it shows that even Rush can by hypocritical. His enemies on the left are loving every moment of it.
