I knew he was ill.... saw him in a TV appearance some time ago, and he didn't look well at all.
Rest in Peace.
Rodney! Michael Baryshnakov is not Gay! - Say it isn't so!

Saw them in a nightclub years and years ago.......they sure had talent! Sorry to see such a talent taken from the scene.

Can't you just watch them dance all night long?

Can't you just watch them dance all night long?Since I'm about as graceful as a one-legged elephant, yes.
To: RoughDobermann
I loved his dancing! RIP, Greg.
Fox is covering this like he was a senior statemen. They've done the "Fox News Alert" four times that I've seen. Annoying.

Sad. Sadder still is watching the Fox News Channel ad-lib the story:
Eric: "He was talented, talented, actor...and a dancer. He started dancing when he was five years old."
Kieran: "Yes, he was a dancer, and an actor. So talented. As Eric said, he started when he was five years old, tap dancing with his brother."
Eric: "Yes, some sad news to report. He was such a talented, talented actor..."
It's as if their sources are on an IV drip. Why not just announce it and then say "We'll have more details on this story for you once we have something further to tell you." Then move on to other topics. Instead we get this tag-team parroting of the same few details over and over and over...

I don't believe he is; maybe Rudolf Nuryev instead.

Don't worry, Baryshnakov is not gay.
Nureyev was gay and died of AIDS. It's a shame, he was an amazing talent.

Damn. Great dancer, great in Running Scared and Wolfen. Seemed like a decent human being.

The last role I remember seeing him in was as Will's boss on Will & Grace. He did look sick...very thin. RIP, Mr. Hines.

Was he in that movie with the gay russian dancer guy?
I don't think Barishnikov is gay, even though he is a ballet dancer.

he did a ton of movies and TV, including a 2001 starring vehicle as Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. His filmography at IMDB is at:
http://us.imdb.com/Name?Hines,+Gregory
I loved Running Scared with he and Billy Crystal. He also had a neat part in the HBO movie The Cherokee Kid. One of the smaller, wierder and funnier bits was the cameo he did as the roller skater mugged by Miss Piggy in Muppets Take Manhatten. I think he may have been most pleased with Tap, which involved lots of the best black dancers of the 20th century, including Sammy Davis Jr. in one of his last roles.
He was definitely one of the best and will be missed. I thank God that we live in a time when performers like him will be remembered because people will be able to see their work. That's only been possible for 100 years. All of the history of the performing arts before that is merely rumor.

"The man looked sick all his life to me."
Yes, he always was kinda sickly looking. Hubby is shocked to hear of his passing. People are dying who never died before as my grandma used to say.

I can sit and watch him dancing with Michael Baryshnikov in White Knights FOREVER. What you said, Howlin'!
I didn't know he was sick, either. This is very sad.
