Not that it matters to the faith of a Christian, but the truth about the matter shouldn't be left in the hands of a limited amount of experts, there should be a second, third, and fourth opinion after examination across a broad spectrum of antiquties experts.

Always a mistake for people of one religion to declare the relics of another a fake. Everybody does it and this could very well be a fake but Israel would have been better served by remaining--officially--silent. Israelis in the private sector could have made the case.
