Why did Fox and Friends repeatedly air the 'adored Saddam' Iraqi Info Min. video to illustrate their 'question of the day' today (re. a supposed "new Saddam letter")?
For the record, we wiped out the vast majority of Saddam's loyal army of co-oppressors. We have OUR troops living in SADDAM's palaces. Saddam's regime and rule are OVER...thanks to OUR troops. Saddam is never, never, never going to rule in Iraq AGAIN. Yet, the few remaining bad guys, regime dead-enders, continue to terrorize the Iraqi people - with the help of the international newsmedia!
Knowing what this monster did to the Iraqi people, why does the press continue to run the videos of 'smiling Saddam' and the latest 'Saddam's alive' story as 'entertainment' - as if there's a chance in Hell that Saddam would ever be given the chance to rule Iraq again, as if this monster is still able to wipe out whole villages and families in retalliation for speaking out against him - as he did in the 1980's, 1990's, 2000's?
When Fox and Friends re-aired the video again and again this morning - smiling Saddam surrounded by 'adoring crowds' to illustrate yet another new 'Saddam letter' - did they think of the Kuwaiti people and newly freed Iraqis? They get FoxNews in Kuwait now. Some Iraqi people now have satellite dishes, and they get Brit Hume's Special Report in Baghdad, I think. Saddam's rape victims, relatives of those he tortured and murdered must wonder how we could be so unthinking, so cruel.
Saddam will never rule in Iraq again. NEVER. His victims need to know this. Our President, the Coalition, our troops would never allow it. The newly freed Iraqi people need to know this.
The next time "Saddam" appears, instead of airing Iraqi Info Min, lies - aiding our enemies, terrorizing the Iraqi people and undermining our efforts to stabilize Iraq - the press could illustrate the "new" sighting w/ a picture of one of Saddam's mutilated victims, then feature an interview with one of OUR Marines, or interview one of the survivors in a nation of real victims still waiting in fear to speak and be heard. Tell the world what Saddam's regime did to the Iraqi and Kuwaiti people - all of it - until we NEVER forget. THAT'S factual. That's "news".
Every time there's a supposed Saddam 'sighting', 'letter' or 'video' - intended always to further terrify and control the Iraqi people - AMERICAN news people raised in freedom should be telling the true horror stories from Iraq of Saddam's Baathist Socialist Party's brutal oppression of the Iraqi people - the raping of children and wives, burning babies alive - the imprisonment, torture and death of family members to extract cooperation and information, the mutilation performed by every doctor - forced by the regime to bloody their own hands for the state....the daily, weekly, yearly terror of the Iraqi people living under Saddam Hussein. Tell these true stories until the rest of the world no longer considers it "amusing" or "entertaining" to play smiling Saddam videos and pretend the latest letter means anything more than yet one more effort to silence and terrify the Iraqi people and prevent them and US from stabilizing Iraq.
Sent off the thread w/ subject line: NEWS ALERT! Saddam is NEVER coming back! Please alert the lost/"objective" press and their misinformed customers, esp. the newly freed, frightened Iraqi people. Thank you.
Not good at pithy. Sigh.
"In terms of Saddam Hussein, I think it really doesn't matter. The bottom line is he's no longer in power. I think everybody realizes that, and he's never going to come back to power. I think there's two things related to that. We have to make sure that people understand that coalition forces are going to be here until we have a safe and secure environment, and that the bottom line is Saddam Hussein or his sons will never take control of this country again." ~ Maj. Gen. Odierno Videoteleconference from Baghdad, June 18, 2003 [4th ID!]
Don't you dare claim that you and the press aren't inciting fear with this crap.
Saddam "news"? Show the reality of the mass-graves.
