Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June, 2003, as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. I encourage all citizens to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities which celebrate our diversity and recognize the GLBT Americans whose many and varied contributions have enriched our lives in this state and in the nation.

Speaking of cows, one would think that in the interests of inclusive diversity, the Governor could set aside one week of that month for Cowophiliacs and other intra-species soul-mates.

You being from Michigan, any idea if your governor has issued a proclamation honoring the Boy Scouts? February is the anniversary month for BSA, and I would hope that she issued a suitable proclamation. But I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't.

BTW, I'm also from Ohio originally, and my wife is from Michigan. But we got out.

Well there used to be some pretty conservative folk in rural and small town Michigan. I imagine that this Clintonistic Administration has many in a mixed state of stupor and rage.

Do the Republicans have any articulate Conservative to take advantage of the outrage, and build a base for something better? Note, I stipulated a "Conservative"; one of the "me too," but "a little slower" type, just emboldens the enemy.

According to the official proclamation (see below for the full text), Gov. Granholm called on all citizens of Michigan to "celebrate our diversity" and be more "inclusive and accepting" of openly gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Why only four sexual orientations are to be privileged? There are many more around. How intolerant and insensitive!
