The culture of Toyota and others in the japanese car industry is more "American" than the left wing UNionists that make American cars and the foundations who dispense millions to leftist causes.
Many many American prefer to buy Japanese because one - the cars are better, and two - unionists don't make them.

We have a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder that just runs and runs. It has almost 250,000 miles and we're keeping it.
OTOH the 2002 Ford F-150 is nothing but trouble. The bright smily Ford customer service means nothing when I have to keep taking it in for stupid stuff and wasting my time!
