U.S. Marines cross Nassiriya waterways, head north
NORTH OF NASSIRIYA, Iraq, March 25 (Reuters) - A big convoy of U.S. Marines crossed the Euphrates river and Saddam Canal at Nassiriya on Tuesday, resuming a key advance toward Baghdad after fighting their way through the city.
Reuters correspondent Sean Maguire, travelling with the U.S. troops, said the convoy had raced through the streets along a protective corridor of American armour, crossing first then river and then the canal. "The convoy is now through," he said.
"Nassiriya seems to be still hostile but the Americans are across the waterways and are moving north again," Maguire said.
A northward advance on the far bank of the Euphrates could eventually form the eastward arm of a pincer movement on Baghdad, 375 km (235 miles) north of Nassiriya. To the west of the river, U.S. forces are only 100 km (60 miles) south of the capital.

And now for the weather, temperature for the baghdad region, 3000 degrees celcius, apperantly the coalition forces finally smartened up and saw the answer to their prayers. That answer came in the form of my absolute favorite weapon

The only thing that bothered me about this was the fact that they kept reporting the bridges were still up. I would've expected Iraq to down all their own bridges to slow the advance, even though our troops can build bridges in a matter of minutes, apparently. Why'd they leave the bridges usable for us? Not this trap I keep hearing about? I hope and pray not.

I had no doubt this would happen. We need to put Marine Col. Starnes, the commanding officer of our artillery around Nasiriya, in charge of all our forces. Here's what he said regarding the Iraqi tactics in Nasiriyah: "If [Saddam] puts his combat forces near hospitals, schools, or anything else that uses that area to direct fire, we will engage the enemy wherever he is shooting at us. The enemy commander is responsible for any collateral damage caused by putting enemy forces near a protected site."

Yup.
We're almost set now with our forces about in place east, south, and west of the city.... and after a bit more softening up of the Republican Guard, we'll be ready to take Bhagdad.
Except for the damn sand!!!
