U.S. intelligence officials believe Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, possibly accompanied by one or both of his powerful sons, was still inside a compound in southern Baghdad early yesterday when it was struck by a barrage of U.S. bombs and cruise missiles......
.......Officials said they were not surprised by the broadcast because they had information that the Iraqi leader had recorded several statements earlier in the week in anticipation of a military strike.....

Admins, my apologies, but the WP article has the entirely mundane and boring title "Hussein Was Target of Bombing" which is old news, even though the article contains significant new info, so I provided my own. Not certain what the limit is on WP excerpting, hope I haven't gone over, please edit if necessary.

If he was in there with his evil spawn, I hope they all had enough time to look at each other and realize what was coming down.

"The prepondence of the evidence is he was there when the building blew up," said one senior U.S. official with access to sensitive intelligence. The official added that Hussein's sons, Qusay and Uday, may also have been at the compound. "He didn't get out" beforehand, another senior official said of the Iraqi president. Thanks for the info.

Hopefully, we got him.

Personally, I think the US also has Hussein now dead and Bin Laden in custody for the past few weeks. I suspect they didn't leak out Bin Laden's capture all this time so that they could track down his grapevine. When this is all over, or when the end seems near, I expect to hear reports of his capture.
Could their be a better 2003 than seeing these two removed from their perches?

On one hand,I pray we got the rat bastard.
On the other, I dread the leftists crying "okay, we can go home now," leaving the job unfinished.

Just got back online.
Has anyone heard of casuality level for US forces yet?

I hope they all had enough time to look at each other and realize what was coming down."Dad, somebody set us up the bomb!"

Tis a far, far better thing you do......
Actually, I don;t think they were pretapes. Tape is easy to tell from indications in the blanking signal (the black timing band between frames of the picture).
Also, if pretaped, why would he have so obviously been so shaken (by the attack)
Looked to me like a guy who got his chimes rung real bad!

16 Marines feared dead when their helicopter (which was an antiquated piece of crap when I was in the Marines--12 YEARS ago!) crashed.
