Would this explain why he doesn't like modern architecture -- not enough minarets?

For discussion and comment.

"Islamic countries like Turkey, Egypt and Syria gave women the vote as early as Europe did its women-and much earlier than in Switzerland! In those countries women have long enjoyed equal pay, and the opportunity to play a full working role in their societies."--Prince Charles

Why does this remind me of all the nice things that used to be said about the "workers' paradise" in the former Soviet Union.

The only good thing about this is that my husband has finally stopped defending this twerp who will never be King of England.

He may be O.K. in England even if it is true he has become a Muslim. Just as long as he doesn't become a Catholic--that would cause him to be instantly excluded from the succession. Whether English law will allow him to have four wives, I don't know.

This must have gone to press just before Princess Diana was killed.

Dont forget, Charles acts wacko, just like Michael Jackson, because they both had HORRIBLE childhoods. He is a very hollow person, apparently trying to fill a void.

Except for his office - which is largely a farce, he would and should be ignored. He is a nutcase, and is to be pitied, not taken seriously.

I'm not sure it matters that he is a Muslim. It only matters that the head of the Church of England is not a Christian.

That, at least, is clear.

I always thought Charles was a homo, much like T.E. Lawrence was. His conversion to Islam confirms it.

First of all, let me state that I am far from happy about Prince Charles's enthusiasm for Islam. However, as a monarchist, I must respond to some of the unfair and misinformed comments above.

"twerp who will never be King of England"

Whether you like it or not, Prince Charles WILL become King of Great Britain unless he predeceases his mother. The monarchy is not a popularity contest, and currently only about one fifth of the British people are opposed to the institution. Far from being a "twerp," Prince Charles is a thoughtful and intelligent man with many good ideas who just happens to be wrong about Islam. True conservatives ought to cheer his support for foxhunting, his concern for farmers, his skepticism about genetically modified crops, and his opposition to political correctness and overregulation.

"too much inbreeding"

This is simply nonsense. European royalty have not been in the habit of marrying close relatives for over a hundred years. Prince Charles's parents are third cousins, but this is not a significant relationship genetically. The Queen's parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, were not related at all unless you go back several centuries. Besides, recent research has shown that even first cousin marriages are not nearly as genetically risky as commonly assumed. So the idea that Prince Charles's faults, real or imagined, have anything to do with "inbreeding" is just not true.

"his office - which is largely a farce"

The British monarchy is one of the oldest and greatest institutions of Western Civilization. It is the UK's last bastion against total capitulation to political correctness, secularism, egalitarianism, and submersion into the European Union. Whatever one thinks of the current royals, in my opinion anyone who can't see the importance of preserving the monarchy isn't much of a conservative. Yes, the monarchy has become almost purely symbolic, but symbols matter--and are worth fighting for.

"thought Charles was a homo"

Pure slander and lunacy. There is absolutely NO evidence whatsoever to support this claim, which hardly deserves comment.

"get in troubles [sic] when opening their mouths"

The only reason Prince Philip "gets in trouble" is that he is one of the few public figures today who refuses to be intimidated by political correctness. The modern world has become too hypersenstive to appreciate a man who says what he thinks. Conservatives ought to sympathize with that.

God Save the Queen!

British law requires the sovereign to be a Protestant (not just a non-Catholic)...although Parliament could always change that. Supposedly Charles is a descendant of the Prophet.

Sounds more like Charles is into that New Age "all paths lead to God" mumbo jumbo--One World Religion.
