First of all, let me state that I am far from happy about Prince Charles's enthusiasm for Islam. However, as a monarchist, I must respond to some of the unfair and misinformed comments above.

"twerp who will never be King of England"

Whether you like it or not, Prince Charles WILL become King of Great Britain unless he predeceases his mother. The monarchy is not a popularity contest, and currently only about one fifth of the British people are opposed to the institution. Far from being a "twerp," Prince Charles is a thoughtful and intelligent man with many good ideas who just happens to be wrong about Islam. True conservatives ought to cheer his support for foxhunting, his concern for farmers, his skepticism about genetically modified crops, and his opposition to political correctness and overregulation.

"too much inbreeding"

This is simply nonsense. European royalty have not been in the habit of marrying close relatives for over a hundred years. Prince Charles's parents are third cousins, but this is not a significant relationship genetically. The Queen's parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, were not related at all unless you go back several centuries. Besides, recent research has shown that even first cousin marriages are not nearly as genetically risky as commonly assumed. So the idea that Prince Charles's faults, real or imagined, have anything to do with "inbreeding" is just not true.

"his office - which is largely a farce"

The British monarchy is one of the oldest and greatest institutions of Western Civilization. It is the UK's last bastion against total capitulation to political correctness, secularism, egalitarianism, and submersion into the European Union. Whatever one thinks of the current royals, in my opinion anyone who can't see the importance of preserving the monarchy isn't much of a conservative. Yes, the monarchy has become almost purely symbolic, but symbols matter--and are worth fighting for.

"thought Charles was a homo"

Pure slander and lunacy. There is absolutely NO evidence whatsoever to support this claim, which hardly deserves comment.

"get in troubles [sic] when opening their mouths"

The only reason Prince Philip "gets in trouble" is that he is one of the few public figures today who refuses to be intimidated by political correctness. The modern world has become too hypersenstive to appreciate a man who says what he thinks. Conservatives ought to sympathize with that.

God Save the Queen!
