Answer to terror? Arm yourselves, says LaPierre (more important than ever)

Answer to terror? Arm yourselves, says LaPierre NRA leader's new title is next best seller from WND Books

Some people suggest the threat of terrorism is a reason to restrict further access to firearms.

In his upcoming release, National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre makes the case that the war on terror makes it more important than ever for law-abiding Americans to arm themselves.

"Guns, Freedom, and Terrorism" is the fifth release for WND Books, a partnership of WorldNetDaily and Thomas Nelson Publishers. No other retailer, including Amazon, will have this book until early April. Only WND will be able to get this book to you almost a full month earlier. Beginning today, WorldNetDaily's online store, ShopNetDaily is taking pre-order reservations for the book that will put it in readers' hands three weeks from now – signed by the author or unsigned.

"We're very pleased that an author with the stature and proven success of Wayne LaPierre would sign with WND Books – even before we had a track record of producing best-selling books," said Joseph Farah, chief executive officer of WorldNetDaily and co-founder of WND Books. Currently, Michael Savage's "The Savage Nation," the second release in the WND Books line, is rising high atop all the best-sellers lists and was No. 1 on the New York Times list for two of four weeks since its release.

Gun control has long been a hot topic in the United States, and the controversy has only heightened since the terrorist attacks Sept. 11. Now, with a growing focus on homeland security, more and more Americans are asserting their Second Amendment right to bear arms.

"Guns, Freedom, and Terrorism" is a fact-filled volume that tackles a number of subjects surrounding gun rights, including: arming airline pilots, animal rights extremism, media bias, gun-show prohibition, self-defense, and others. Its convincing arguments will cause even the most adamant gun-control supporter to consider the values our forefathers fought to protect – liberty, self-government and justice.

Wayne LaPierre is the best-selling author of "Guns, Crime, and Freedom," "Standing Guard," and "Shooting Straight." His last book sold nearly 1 million copies.

"I don't think there is anyone in the country who is a more well-known and highly regarded champion of Second Amendment rights than Wayne LaPierre," said Farah. "This book ties in gun rights and the terrorism issue better than anything else in the marketplace. It's timely and it's profound."

They got a new hand gun registration law ready for us, HR 124. 15 years with no suspension or probation, for failing to comply. Will conservatives allow the UN gun control laws to come to America?

The trillion dollar central intelligence could not stop 19 barely literate Arabs from pulling off one of the great criminal conspiracies of all time, and yet there was not one high level resignation. The government has left its people unarmed and ill-prepared for an invasion that allegedly necessitated and justified its existence, but its clear the barbarians have already entered the gates.

Worse, the same 'conservatives' who got us into this mess in the Middle East, Perle, Wolfowitz, Rummy, Cheney, Baker, Bush, Sr., refused to acknowledge that a government policy of interventionism abroad cannot coexist with a disarmed public, and yet the ruling party is still in power, claiming no responsibly for the situation we have found ourselves in.

LaPierre is on the right track, but he must complete the thought. The same teachers and jocks who ran for their lives in the halls of Columbine rather than tackle two scrawny teenagers wielding cumbersome shotguns, were on the airplanes hoping it was just a 'hijacking.' But there is hope, as seen on Flight 93, with a new set of names to be added to the lexicon of heroes.

Conservatives had and still have an opportunity to tap into this raw emotion that longs for a culture that did not wait for the government to do something a thousand miles away in a the Middle East, but heralded the individual bravery and courage of the 'common man' be it on the frontier in the Wild West or on an airplane over Pennsylvania. The barbarians had not counted on this.

The gun culture introduced me to one of the greatest of historical observations: the Nazi victims being led to their death by guards with unloaded weapons (open bolts.) After years of being browbeaten and disarmed by the government, they lacked the will to fight back.

Well, my family is going to fight back. I've got hollow-points for my .38. Let's see the anthrax escape THAT!

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Believe it or not, several folks on this forum do not believe that this means citizens have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Time for a little history lesson.

It's been repeated in history books and other places that Militia groups are useless during wartime. Here's where the discrepency occurs. The Civil War Re-enactment group that I belonged to for over ten years was based on the Chicago Light Artillery. The original group started in the 1850's as a militia group and practiced on their own without governmental interference. When the Civil War broke out, the unit was federalized and assigned to go down to Shiloh with Grant's army. During the battle they never lost a gun and was praised for their contribution. During the war, militia groups were still intact but they were used as rear guard and composed of veterans who were mustered out because of wounds, the elderly and younger participants.

In short, during peacetime, militia groups were the backbone of the trained volunteers. During the actual wars, the militia groups were then federalized and the home guard militias were composed of the volunteers who were unable to be Regulars.

Ping in Roscoe and a couple of his cronies. According to these guys, it needs to be incorperated by the USSC before it applies to the States. States are well within their rights to completely ban firearms if they so choose ala Kalifornistan.

Gods save us from fools and lawyers. But why be redundant?

Breaking an unConstitutional law is no offense.

To bad our courts are too corrupt to call them to heal. It'd be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

The posts that I have read only explain how the states enact gun control. I haven't read any posts that support that view from any Freeper.

Really. Try and nail Roscoe down on an answer. I've been trying for a few months. He just starts cut-pasting from court decisions. I've never seen a post where he gives his own opinion on it.

Then there are all the Freepers who believe "some" limitations are good. Each has their own idea on where that line should be drawn. Is incremental gun control somehow better than the crap the government is pulling now? Incrementalism was how we got here to begin with.

Already heard media reports on renewed activity with "right wing militia groups". Really had their panties in a bunch worring if this was a greater threat than Islamic's already in country.

I draw the line at individual vs crew served weapons. Any person could keep and bear any weapon designed for individual use. Groups (ie:towns) could own crew served weapons, like tanks, aircraft, etc. Crew served weapons could also be individually owned if approved by Letter of Marquee.

WMD under Fed control. Actually would prefer banning WMD, but once the cat is out of the bag it is never getting back in.

I have never posted to Roscoe but I have read numerous posts from people who mistake information with a point of view.

Like I said, I guess I have been lucky not to have met the anti's on this board.

The anti's get upset when they see a mouse. It wouldn't surprise me that they would write articles about Bubba walking around his property with a BB gun.
