900 piglets stolen from farm
The piglets are worth about £40,000
Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole 900 piglets from a farm in Greater Manchester. The animals - all aged between three weeks and three months - were taken from the farm off Beech Walk, Standish, on Friday night.
Police say several people must have been involved in the theft, which would have taken several hours.
The animals are worth about £40,000.
Heated units
Pc Nicky Mercer, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "It is also likely that those involved will have had to use a number of vehicles, so someone may have seen them being loaded in the area overnight.
"Some of the pigs are also very young and need to be kept in heated units or they will not survive.
"It's likely that the people who have taken the piglets know what care they need and how to look after them."
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact police in Wigan, or Crimestoppers.

How on earth do you steal 900 baby pigs?? They're not exactly the calmest or quietest things in the world. Didn't anybody hear anything or notice anything? If I were the cops that's what I would sure be wondering.

We can't blame this on the Israelis either. Although they might try to.

Today on the interstate I passed a truck with piglets in it. They were so cute, trying to stick their heads out the side of truck like a dog would.
I felt really bad, I want to stop eating pork, but I love bacon.

I've heard of animal extremists over there doing mink releases. Maybe this was a piglet release.

This was probably a caper by the Belgians who decreed last week that English farmers had to provide a toy in every pig sty. Obviously these were deprived piglets who did not have their fair share of soccer balls to play with! < /sarcasm > :~)

I think it's the envirowhackos - aka PETA.
They have done this before.
What bothers me is that these people never stop to realize that there is a family with children who are depending on that money to feed their family.
"it's for the children"; yeah, right!!
