[history]
Bully for Patricia Heaton. Those who watched the 30th annual American Music Awards last week know how busy the ABC censors were in bleeping out host Ozzy Osbourne and his dysfunctional family. But it turns out that not everyone thought it funny. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Ms. Heaton -- the actress who plays Debra Barone on the hit CBS sitcom "Everyone Loves Raymond" -- walked out in disgust.

(If you walked up to someone's door and said 1/4 what's said on their MTV inside, you'd be arrested.)
To: The Raven
The title here is pretty misleading, since Ms. Heaton's dislikes seemed directed at other people in the awards ceremony other than [just]Ozzy. Most of these awards shows are excuses for ridiculous behaviour, including a contest for how much skin you can show without being arrested. How anyone could attend one of these affairs and think it's an appropriate place to take a child is beyond me. IMO, Ozzy is the only thing worth watching on MTV. Is it appropriate for young kids? No, and neither is most of what's on MTV.

Ozzy is the only thing worth watching on MTV The modern "I Love Lucy" ???
I've "deleted" many of the cable channels on my receiver - including VH1, MTV - --- that way, I can't accidentally watch anything on there.

ABC and Disney... teaming up to teach our country's
12-year-old girls about 3-way sex, dirty words and
wonders of the human body.
Hey, Eisner, how 'bout a Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck
primetime porno hour? You could put it on right before
The Gay Bachelor or The Lesbian Bachelorette, two shows
I'm sure you're already working on.

It felt like I was in the Roman Colosseum.
Very inciteful!! It should have felt that way because that is the exact track our society has taken. Apart from a religious revival, NOTHING will save us from the same end experienced by the Roman Empire.
In international politics, we are acting very "empirish" and in our culture we act as if each individual has an absolute right to pursue his own course, no matter the consequences. Or worse, as if there's no such thing as consequences.
As we approach the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we have before us the legal precedent for such thinking. We have slaughtered 40 million of our children since Roe with reckless abandon. No consequences? One rather mundane example: The first of these children would be reaching their 30th birthday and approximately 15 million of them would be of working age...look at the estimates of the worker shortage in this country that most economists use. This is no coincidence!

No doubt Ms. Heaton will be seen as very uncool... No doubt she'll be written off next season. There's no faster way to kill your Hollywood career than to reveal Conservative values.

"I really didn't know what I was getting into," Ms. Heaton told the Plain DealerI like Ms. Heaton, but she really shouldn't have expected much more from one of these inane awards shows.

Somewhat along the same lines, did anyone else check out the half time shows during the two NFL championship games yesterday? Both shows were gross, lewd, rapfests, featuring little kids gyrating lasciviously.
They only lacked a gang bang, a drive by shooting, and a cop killing to complete the celebration of depravity. They are probably saving these elements for the Super Bowl half time show.

It felt like I was in the Roman Colosseum. That says it all.

It was alright for Osborne to use gutter language and offend millions but he would really been trashed if he said anything about homosexuals, blacks, women, animals or anything that might be remotely go against the PC craze. When are the sponsors of all this going to get some backbone and end this kind nonsense? (Everybody really knows nothing gets done untill their profits are threatened.)

Thanks to Patricia Heaton for refusing to participate in something she felt offended about. Actions speak louder than words even when those words are insulting and vulgar. There is no need for every word to be insulting, tasteless, four letter, foul or vulgar. Let's all stop glorifying this nonsense in our culture

MTV and VH-1 are both really useless.
I can't even remember the last time I heard a song (if you can call them that) worth listening to. Usually when you turn on MTV you see the flower of American youth- drunk, screaming imbecils.
I will watch the "other" VH-1 that plays genre-specific and older videos (and just videos, not the other crap).
"I Love Lucy"...hmm..maybe more like the Addams Family lol
As Ozzy himself said "I love you more than life itself, but you're all mad.."
