OPERATION INFINITE FREEP: Send a letter or care package to our troops in Kuwait!

Posted on 01/18/2003 10:34:29 PM PST by strick68

OPERATION INFINITE FREEP rolls on across our great Republic. Through the efforts of dedicated FReepers and Patriots we are making a dent in the pathetic anti-war movement by standing in the gap for Freedom here at home. But it is the courageous men and women of our mighty Armed Forces who defend our Freedom against a tyranny that would destroy us if given the chance. I propose we mobilize another front of OPERATION INFINITE FREEP by showing our troops directly that we support them.

Contact your local military base Public Affairs Office and ask for the address of a deployed unit. If the media has already released the deployment news of a particular unit then there should be no problem getting this information, especially if you explain that you want to send letters of encouragement and thanks to our troops. You should post this information on FR or the USO Canteen so that others can participate as well. Just remember the "Loose Lips Sink Ships" rule. If it's been released in the media then it's probably safe to post here.

I went to the Ft. Stewart, GA PAO to find the address of my old outfit, 3rd battalion, 7th Infantry 3rd Infantry Division. They gave the address and provided the Battalion Commander's name, Lt. Colonel Cameron. I plan on sending letters of support to him and my old platoon, 3rd plt. A Company. You can "Adopt a Platoon" as well by sending care packages filled with personal hygiene products, AA and D cell batteries, home made and store bought goodies, paperback books, newspapers, magazines and disposable cameras. Use your imagination and think what you'd like if you were out in the desert ready to take on a brutal dictator. This is a great way to support our troops especially if you don't have any peaceniks around to FReep and you just want to do SOMETHING. Here is the address of my adopted Platoon:

3rd Plt. A Co. 3-7INF (or-"to any soldier") 1 BCT, 3ID Camp Pennsylvania APO, AE 09303

LTC Cameron is the Battalion Commander: LTC Cameron, Cmdr, 3-7INF 1 BCT, 3ID Camp Pennsylvania APO, AE 09303

You can choose HQ's, 1st, 2nd or 3rd platoons from A, B or C Company. Or Headquaters Company (HHC) 3ID units-1st Brigade: 2-7 and 3-7 Infantry, 3-69 Armor, HHC 1st BDE 11th Engineer Bn. 1-41 Field Artillery, etc. go to www.stewart.army.mil for more 3rd Infantry Division units. The APO, AE zip codes and Camp names may all be different so double check. A great way to show your support for our troops and the job they do for us. Rock of the Marne and FReep on!!!

USO Canteen provided much information on sending e-mails and care packages to military. Most referred to Christmas packages. I was going to send care package, but the site stated not to send mail and care packages because it clogs the APO maile lines and for security purposes.
There is so much stuff on "USO Canteen" site, I don't know what is still active.
Is there a group that is still sending "care packages" to our troops in the Middle East? If so, how can they be contacted?
