Response to Media Demonizing Frist--read this: Sen Bill Frist Heroic During 1998 Shooting

Well, the liberal media is already demonizing Sen (Dr.) Bill Frist. The AP just wrote a hit piece on him about a country club he once belonged to. That is just the beginning.

Here is something that the GOP should remind everyone of: Frist's heroic actions during the 1998 Capital Hill shootings. Dr. Frist jumped into the fray before the area was even secure in order to save lives. I hope someone brings this up during the Sunday Talk Shows.

This reminds me of Sec. Rumsfeld assisting victims outside of the Pentagon on 911! THe media was hell bent on not showing him ignoring his own safety to help his fellow man.

It was remarkable and totally in character for Sec. Rumsfeld to assist in this manner yet hardly anyone knows about it.

I forgot about Sec Rumfeld and what he did during the Pentagon attack--but you are 100% correct.

Rumsfeld ran to the courtyard of the Pentagon to assist two burn victims before he was called back to the Pentagon "tank." Also, everyone at the Pentagon was expecting another air terror attack 5 minutes after the first aircraft hit. How do I know this? An Air Force chaplain who was there told me, and said he reasoned to stay because he didn't want to die running away. He saw how Rumsfeld helped the wounded.

Can anyone imagine Hillary! doing something similar to Rumsfeld or Dr. Frist?

Hillary vs. Rumsfeld and Frist

The only help Hillary offered was helping herself to the White House silverware...

I did not know about this. Please tell me more.

Thanks--did you see this excerpt from your link?

As the "M.D." beside his Senate nameplate indicates, Frist has continued to practice medicine even from Capitol Hill. He has traveled to Africa during congressional recesses and performed heart surgery on children. In 1998, when shots rang out in the Capitol, Frist raced to the scene. He was unable to resuscitate two Capitol policemen killed in the shooting spree but Frist was credited with saving the life of the shooter, Russell Weston, Jr. He came to the aid of Sen. Strom Thurmond, R-S.C., when the then 99-year-old lawmaker collapsed on the Senate floor. He provided reassurance and advice during the anthrax scare on Capitol Hill.

Frist also blew no-nothing Senators like Carnahan and Murry out of the water when they tried to debate prescription drugs. On C-SPAN 2--Carnahan tried to give some sob story to the camera about "my friend, who cannot get her blood thinning medication re-fills." Dr. Frist challenged her on the floor with facts about the medication and how they are prescribed and Carnahan ran running to hills.

It is sad that the Democrats will destroy him. Just a matter of time.

There is a picture of him escorting a gurney with a victim to a waiting ambulance. I have no idea how to find this picture and am pressed for time. I am almost postive he had his suit jacket off in this picture that was virtually ignored by the media!

I don't have the article on Rummy--but as already mentioned--the media downplayed his assistance to the wounded after 9-11. I know he stuck around waaaaaaaaaay longer than his aides wanted--they wanted him out of the Pentagon and in a secure location.

They will certainly try. But---there is something the media forgot:

--people have a trust for doctors that exceeds that of politicians. A doctor saved my eyesight once, and I'll never forget it. Many Americans have a similar tale about at least one doctor in their lives. Compare this to a politician like Hillary! who talks and policy wonks all day---she comes across as a selfish hag compared to Dr. Frist

No media coverage of the Rumsfield heroics at the Pentagon? = A blatant example of the vast left wing media conspiracy!

I don't know if heriocs is the proper word but I reckon while Rumsfeld was helping victims that Hillary was under her desk. So while Rumsfeld was doing something that came naturally to him ( mans humanity to man) Hillary and her ilk were by far cowards.

Rumsfeld has character.

I just walked past the TV with NBC News spewing out of it. The talking head proclaimed that "Republicans had all but annointed Bill Frist.

I may have the order of the words wrong, but annoint is correct.

Would NBC News use the term annoint to describe a Democrat political selection?

We all know the answer to that one!

You are absolutely 100% correct, sir.

I would be dead were it not for the efforts of a skilled surgeon. As it is, I am a healthy almost forty year old, sixteen years later.

I don't know much about Dr. Frist, but I would be willing to bet he is a far better man than ANYONE the DemonCraps can come up with.

The GOP strategy for 2004 has already been set in motion . . .

If Democrats think they have all the answers on health care, education, and the economy, then why is so much of their leadership made up of lawyers instead of doctors (Frist), teachers (Hastert), and businessmen (Bush)?

Lest we forget, Ted Kennedy's house had deed restrictions concerning ethnicity or race, I can't recall which, but it can be searched for if he starts his BS.

Mr. Rumsfeld was in his office on the third floor of the outer ring when he heard and felt the crash on the other side of the building. The 69- year-old former Navy pilot was jolted and rushed to the scene. "He went outside the building and was helpful in getting several people that were injured onto stretchers," said a Pentagon spokesman, Rear Adm. Craig Quigley. "He was out there 15 minutes or so helping the injured."

Pentagon employees say Rumsfeld set an important example by staying on the job in the building throughout the incident. He helped load the wounded onto stretchers, began coordinating a response to the attack and held a news conference on site so the public could see that the disaster hadn't stopped the Pentagon's work.

"The fact that he stayed with us really helped bring the military and civilian employees together," said Mary Beth Carozza, 40, a deputy assistant secretary of defense.

It was also covered on CNN, but very briefly, only one sentence in an article.
