WHO WAS THAT CHAP?
Sen. John Edwards' relationship with the real Bill Clinton paid off in London on Wednesday, when British Prime Minister Tony Blair met with the now-senior senator and presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.

Edwards had asked Clinton to call Blair on his behalf to help get him a meeting on a European junket Edwards hopes will help burnish a perception that he has foreign policy experience.

But no sooner did Edwards walk out of the meeting, which lasted longer than Edwards expected, than he was on a conference call to reporters in Washington in North Carolina crowing about the meet. Edwards claimed that he and Blair hit it off, but that may be because, according to British press sources, Edwards told the Labour PM that he supported the Bush agenda on Iraq and terrorism without hesitation.

"Blair's people said he was quite the suckup, as you say," says a British foreign affairs reporter in London. "We all understood that this man wasn't serious about anything, it was all for his domestic aims. None of us really knew who Edwards was."

Tony Blair approved of Edwards because Johnny (name on birth cert. - legally changed to "John") claimed to support President Bush. Johnny's singing a different stump speech since the Nov. election. Johnny in Sept.: John Edwards steps up attacks on Bush (Senator's hopes for White House ride on a risky strategy).

PM Blair can assemble a dossier on Saddam Hussein and he can certainly check out the public records of one John Edwards. Supports the President - when it's politically expedient; ambitious, divisive and deceitful.

I wonder whether PM Blair read the transcript of Edwards' character assassination of Charles Pickering during the Senate judiciary hearings?

I'm sure the Downing Street types were amused with Clinton Lite.

A sensible person would be amused, but "little" Johnny Edwards, as a freshman Senator, is credited with saving Clinton's 'bum' during the impeachment hearings by giving one of the most convincing speeches in Senate history - a speech that the Dems. (and the Edwards'-loving media) credit with convincing the Senators not to impeach Clinton.

Edwards is a very smooth and ambitious liar. The act is a harder sell post-911. The snake needs FR's brand of exposure. (^:

Point is, this jackarse has got to make a run for president because he will not be reelected to Congress...he's done absolutely nothing for the state. When Huricane Floyd came through, he showed up a lot in E. NC to shake hands and have photos taken and that was all. Most of the time he was to busy gallavanting around the US shaking other people's hands.

Began following him when Clinton's top handlers helped him win his NC Senate race, and the press made him a top Sunday talk show guest, when there was no legitimate reason for his many appearances.
