Canadian failed gun registration experiment would cost the USA 24 billions.
Most Americans would rather have better health care, and self defense rather than a worthless database of data designed to trap honest American citizens.
Here are the facts regarding Canada firearm registration.
Conclusion: Cost per Canada firearm owner $ 319.17.
Admitted firearms registration cost by Canada government $ 1,053,260,000
Number of Canadian firearm owner?s 3,300,000
Cost of firearm registration per firearm owner?
1,053,260,000 /3,300,000 = $ 319.17 dollars per firearm owner
Cost of firearm registration per registered firearm owner?
1,053,260,000 /1,885,430 = $ 558.63 dollars per firearm owner
How many Canadian firearm owners have refused to registered? 1,414,570
How accurate is the Canadian firearm database? Well consider the following.
# Of registrations applications with unknown entries? 3,325,647
# Of unclaimed firearms in old handgun registry? 300,000
# Of foreign firearms govt has lost track of? 89,820
# Of firearms with same make & serial number? 222,911
# Of firearms registered without serial numbers? 728,046
# Of duplicate firearms registration certificates issued? 26,800
# Of license holders govt has lost track of? 38,629
# Of License handgun owners RCMP lost track of? 11,801
# Of duplicate firearms licenses issued? 832
# Error rate in firearms licenses? 71%
# Error rate in firearms registration applications =? 90% + 42%
Results of Canadian registration?
% Of firearms turned in due to gun registration? .0005%
# Of air guns models identified as firearms? 286
# Of violations of firearms prohibitions orders? Unknown
# Of guns confiscated from revoked licenses? Unknown
# Of registered firearms prohibited by C-68 bill? 568,460
# Of known breaches of police information system? 221
# Of breaches of PCMP computers? Unknown
# Of RCMP security reviews of private processing site? Zero
# Of Non residents arriving with firearms in 2001? 65,328
$ Spent on advertising bill c-68? $ 29,301,386
$ Cost per homicides involving firearms in 2001? $ 6,159,415/homicide.
# Of violent crimes solved by Canadian database? Unknown
While RCMP is applying manpower to paperwork criminals go free?
# Of outstanding arrest warrants under the criminal code? 197,282
# Of active restraining orders without RCMP to handle? 36,474
# Of Parolees who fail to report on any given day? 850
# Number of criminals and suspects allowed into Canada? 3,679
Based on the above cost United State firearm registration would cost.
319.17 times 75,000,000 firearm owners = $ 23,937,750,000

In the old days a politican who wasted money would be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.
Canadian needs some backbone. Come to think of it American closet firearms owners need some backbone too.
Incidentally, for ChicagoFarmer's benefit, if you wanted to post a link to the website of the Alliance Member of Parliament (roughly equivalent to a Republican Congressman) Gary Breitkreuz, you would do it like this
< a href="http://www.garybreitkreuz.com" >Gary Breitkreuz< /a > but WITHOUT THE SPACES beside the brackets.
Here it is: Gary Breitkreuz
Then Rex Murphy just scredded the whole concept of gun control.
Canada may just stop its gun control efforts after the $2 million program looks like it will come in around $1 billion.
This has a chance of stopping health care reform, Koyoto ratification and may bring down the liberal government leadership.
The loss of lives would not be worth it.
Dont breath, we might get a child killed if we do.
Does it save lives or does it kill lives? It depends which life you are talking about. It does kill/scare the bad guys and save the good guy in millions of encounters.
If the issue is saving children's lives, me think we should be well armed against those preying on them. Since legal gun owners are not terrorists, them infering that gun owners are seems to me that it is them who are the terrorists and child killers.
All I can say is the Rex Murphy has quite a following and is quite articulate. He did a sarcastic analysis that pointed out that "gun control" doesn't stop crime. He then pointed out the cost to finish the program was huge. He then pointed out that once finished, by RCMP's own admission that data base will be so flawed that it will not do what the program is suppose to do. Then he asked if the government that said this program would basically pay for itself in savings of lost life at $2 million could be trusted to try to make the program work at any cost. Finally he indicated that this raises much bigger questions about the Liberal governments ability to manage any large program, especially something like the Keyota accords.
It was a sweeping condemnation of both the Liberal Government, gun control, and why small government is best.
I have never seen anything like it on Canadian TV. Rex has quite a following and he has archives of his opinon section on The National, CBC TV Website.
During last nights segment on the National, they interviewed a liberal backbencher and asked what he thougth of John C and the liberal leaderships programs. He looked the camera in the eye and said, he and his fellow liberals are not fools and just because they are in the same party doesn't mean that they are not as shocked as the oposition party and question how this could happen. I think this could lead to elections if the opposition plays it right.
Kids as cattle, it's for the children, they cannot do a single job safely, and we parents should not consider it our job to defend against a continuing criminality. Indeed, we all have a big job ahead of us, and keeping criminals at bay and jurisdictions intact requires us to carry guns, it is part of our job.
