CALIFORNIA STATE ELECTION DISCUSSION THREAD

WELCOME TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE ELECTION DISCUSSION THREAD

Here are the statewide races and propositions, along with California’s U.S. Congressional races. Feel free to discuss other issues here as well such as state assembly and senate races, the proposition to split Los Angeles, mayoral races or local ballot initiatives of note, whatevah.

Here in Western Riverside County, I have seen many more Simon stickers and signs than Davis (a.k.a Mr. Energy).

If only there weren't a Lost Angeles county...well I have my Simon sticker in my car window.

Up here in NORTHERN Santa Barbara County, there are a lot more Simon signs than Davis. Unfortunately, we get cancelled out by the brie-and-croissant crowd in Santa Barbara, along with the transients (UCSB) .

(Actually, I kind of like brie and croissants myself, but I'm a staunch Republican ;-)

Ditto here in eastern Riverside County (Coachella Valley)....also tons of Mary Bono signs, nary-a-nary for Elle the Stewardess.

I voted on my way to work. Of the four people in the polling booth, I saw one obvious Republican. The rest were not clearly identifiable.

There were six people there including me. I had to wait longer (in fact, much longer) to vote in the Republican primary. I think I voted pretty early both times, but I was probably a bit earlier today than during the primary, since I anticipated a longer wait.

For entertainment while we're waiting for results, you might want to check out my web site, which has my freeper videos on display (look at What's New on the left). I just put up Gray & Me, my humourous look at Davis and Simon, with footage from five different events.

I'm amazed I actually finished that by election day! What a long strange trip it's been. Wouldn't have missed it for the world, win or lose.

Preferably win, of course :-).

I'd like to toss in my support for Measures F and H, the Valley and Hollywood secession initiatives.

The advertising opposing it on the radio has been horribly deceptive, and that alone should make you wonder what's going on.

The truth:

A vote for Measures F and H is a vote for local control and responsibility. I urge everyone to vote for them if they can.

Santa Clara Valley mini-report...

Good ol' fashioned punch-ballot (chad) ballots still in use in my precinct. Didn't have to wait in line and only one other in a voting booth.

Just got back from the polls, having braved 49 degree weather. :)

I wish F and H voting had been restricted to the affected areas, so it would have had a chance. I voted "yes" on both, of course.

One more vote in the box for Bill Simon, I made sure of that. No hanging, pregnant, or dimpled chads.

I wonder how F and H will affect the governor's race - I would suspect most people who support them are Simon supporters as well, so it might attract more of us to the polls.

But the union thugs are always going to vote against. I'm going to guess that if F and H are successful, Simon will be elected. If they fail, it's a toss-up.

CAL-ERT 11/03/02 NOON
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
E L E C T I O N 2 0 0 2 -- G E T O U T T H E V O T E !

The elections have tightened up and several key races are too-close-to-call. This makes your vote even more important. It is critical that you cast your vote this Tuesday, November 5th, but you can do a lot more to help the cause of freedom.

This election is predicted to have a very low turnout. This means that every vote cast is more important than ever before. If NRA-PVF endorsed candidates are to win, we must help turn out every possible person to VOTE FREEDOM FIRST!

Follow these steps to help freedom win on election day:

  • Go to www.NRAPVF.org or contact your local NRA Members' Council or look in your NRA magazine and determine which candidates have earned the NRA's endorsement.
  • Contact every person that you know and ask them to vote for these candidates while informing them of the importance of their pro-freedom vote this election. Forward this message via email, post it on the Internet, and call all of your friends and relatives. Check your phone index, holiday card list, and PDA for contacts.
  • Print copies of this printable flyer and distribute them anywhere firearms owners congregate. Examples: Gun/sporting goods stores, ranges, clubs, work (if allowed), etc.
  • Follow-up with your contacts to make sure that they have voted or are planning to vote. A reminder is very important to some people. If possible, assist those that need help getting to the polls.

If each of us contacts everyone that we know and gets them to vote, we stand a much better chance of winning this Tuesday. All we are asking is that you get involved during the next couple of days. Your efforts can make a difference for the future of our Second Amendment freedoms.

Thank you in advance.
