Egypt practices moving forces across Canal towards Israel Aaron Lerner Date: 21 October 2002

Israel Radio Arab Affairs Correspondent Avi Yissakharov reported this afternoon that the Egyptian army has completed a major military training exercise that involved moving a large force across the Suez Canal and into Sinai. The exercise also included destroying "enemy" fortifications.

While the "enemy" was never identified in the exercise, that apparently used American weapons and equipment that the US contributed to Egypt as a reward for agreeing to sign a treaty with Israel (under which they received the entire Sinai), Israel is the only relevant target of such an operation.

Egypt never stopped its hatred of America and Israel.

Saddam is a lawyer who graduated from Egypt.

In Rafah, Gaza Strip, IDF found several tunnels used by Palestinian terrorists to smuggle bombs
and rockets from Egypt.

========= Yevul, Israel =========

In Yevul, Israel, on the border with Egypt,
two Palestinian terrorists were stopped and grounded to room temperature as they
attempted to raid and murder innocents in an Israeli community.
They came from Egypt, the first such incursion in a decade.

I wouldn't worry about Egypt.....I think they're in-the-bag on our side, and will participate in the rout in Iraq and elswhere. I believe hatred of the U.S. is confined to a significant, but small cadre of radicals; the government in squarly West o' centric--regardless of what may be said in the Arab press: Egypt has a history of close alliance with the U.S., and I don't think it'll change.....if the action procedes on-schedule...before the radicals gain more influence there.
