WANTED: a few good men - from the New York City Police Department.

Look, investigators down here are good, decent, hard-working law enforcers. But they have to get their act together.

"They are probably good men and women, but this is amateur-hour time," said retired veteran cop Bo Dietl.

WANTED: a few good men - from the New York City Police Department.

Why? There have been no sniper killings in New York.

Right?

Well, at least this Moose-in-the-media's-headlights has been somewhat enlightening in other ways. For once, the entire nation can see the direct consequences of Affirmative Action, to browns, blacks, yellows and whites.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the Moose is not in charge of this investigation. He may be the guy they trot out to the press, but he sure is not directing how the resources are being used.

And Bo Tweedledee knows this. He is just part of the misdirection being used on the media. Now we have a press story about" the lieing witness being no big deal, why are we talking about it?"

Why is the media so trained on what we don't know, what is not happening, what was not seen, what has not happened????The important questions are not being addressed, and the silly un-important stuff is front page news. Sheeeeeeesh.

There are no REAL cops anymore. At least not since affirmative action and Clinton's push to force a bunch of incompetents upon police departments in the disguise of his "100,000 cops on the street program.

All of the good cops are leaving or have long since retired.

Now they are nothing more than report takers.

I would say that the establishment of a bureaucracy as large as the present force pursuing the sniper is probably going to be a failure. I would be more confident of success if a dozen good detectives were on the case and the rest of the force were doing their normal enforcement duties.

Yes, a bureaucracy, armed or not, is a bureaucracy, and will fiddle away massive resources to little effect, especially if headed by a PC idiot such as Moose. One could hope that, as suggested by others here, Moose is just being used as a talking face for the cameras while intelligent folk are busy in the background. But the obvious confusion and the non-release of info that would aid the public in spotting the culprit(s) suggest otherwise.

This investigation seems to be going nowhere. And the answer seems to be: "Throw more cops at the problem." Now 750 FBI agents should be very helpful, but we have no idea how they are deployed.

I'm probably going to get flamed here for posting such a radical idea... But here is a case where legalized concealed-carry could potentially do a lot of good. If I were the MD governor, I would ask the concealed-carry permit holders to carry their handgun on their person at all times. (No rifles, though... since they would probably be mistaken for the sniper(s).)

Specific instructions could be given. For example: "If you see someone who looks like the sniper with a rifle, fire some shots into the air to warn off any potential victims. (And, if anyone hears shots fired, hit the dirt.) If the suspected sniper tries to flee, try to take out his tires. If he turns his rifle on you, defend yourself."

Sound like things will turn into the wild-wild-west? :-) I actually doubt it would. I have confidence that gun owners, with straightforward instructions from police officials, could actually lead to this sniper's arrest/death. It solves the #1 problem facing this investigation: "Police simply can't be everywhere."

Moose doesn't like this kind of "tunnel vision" . You know, that narrow focus on questions like "who is the sniper?".

Pretty good idea, but I would leave out the part about firing into the air.

Your basic point is that the police should make the citizens aware that they are ultimately responsible for their own safety. Why everyone doesn't already know that is beyond me.

First let's determine if there have been related shootings in NY.

For what reason?

That's why it would be better to have a professional, and not me, handing out the instructions. :-)

If this person had decided to be a home invader instead of a sniper, he might have already been killed now. Within people's homes, where the liberal gun laws have not yet extended, it would be almost suicidal to confront what some people have stored in the nightstand.

If the perps do not get caught soon, terrors cells all over North America are gonna start adopting this method and the body count is gonna go thru the roof. It's going to spread FAST. This proven method will spread. NYC and Miami will be next.

This is not some NUT NRA member. Which is what the media want it to be. The feds think we will panic like sheep if we are told it's terrorist.

The media is pumping the lone "angry white male" gunman to re-energise the anti gun movement. The liberals love this lost cause SO MUCH that they will lose every seat in the Nation for it. Election time is near and the Dems don't have an issue.

D.C. Police and F.B.I. are avoiding giving a description of the perp because "he is an Islamo-fasist terrorist of mid east descent and do not want the heat from liberals for PROFILING.

A pickup truck allows you to hide and shoot in the prone position. The prone position is also the most stable position to shoot in this situation.

Panel or box trucks draw to much attention from the cops. At this point the cops are searching ALL of these vehicals!!

If you want to throw off the cops, what better way to go thru a road block than to have a PICKUP TRUCK with painting, or landscaping equipment under a black tarp in the back with a handy place to hide under.

The coyotes that smuggle illegal aliens across the border use this trick. DC and local area police are not on to this one! This ain't San Diego!

If the cops are looking for a van type WORK vehical and IF I'm hinding under a tarp, I'm gonna get waved thru. The cops want the area cleared as soon as possible.

This is my theory

#1 There are at least 2 moslems working together.(simple deduction: Occums Razor, we are at war)

#2 A shooter is laying in the the prone shooting position in the back of a covered pick up truck. Shooting thru a peephole in the tailgate.

#3 The other guy is the calm getaway driver and lookout. It is too difficult to concentrate on the target AND look out for your self at the same time. The trigger man concentrates on the "long distance". The driver/watcher concentrates on the "immediate area".

#4 They always park the truck with the bed facing the target. Its not camper type cover, that would draw attention from the cops. They are looking for a van.

#5 The lookout gets out of the vehicle and not only watches the surrounding area. But tells the shooter when its clear to pull the trigger via cell phone.

#6 The bed of the truck has a flat canopy. It is well insulated to keep the sound at a mininum. The direction of the suppressed sound is difficult to pinpoint.

#7 After the shoot, the driver calmly goes back to the truck and obeying the all traffic laws drive away while listening to the police chatter on scanners. They may even have a team to hand off the weapons to in another vehical.

#8 They might even be blond haired blue eyed moslems from Bosnia

explanation: This is how I would do it, if I were a bad guy

How this is going to end:

An armed citizen is going the hear the direction of the gunfire and charge at it with a pistol. This guy charging with pistol is either going to kill both perps or die trying.

Coming from no less an expert than "Bo Dietl" ... the name ought to tell you all you need to know about this guy. "Bo Dietl" spends most of his time sucking up to Imus ... kissing butt seems to be his strongest virtue in recent years. He's a publicity hound ... nothing more.
