I dug around a bit on Debka when they first popped up around here... at the time they were parked on a web served in Canada that only had one or two other web sites on it, one of them a sample web site devoted to a toy clock that resembled a bundle of TNT. People associated with their whois site info were a married couple, apparently hippies, who were promoting geodysic homes and some kid in Atlanta. Their 'official' background is that of aauhtors of a tour guide booklet in Israel- dated info for a very sparse andhighly questionable resume. All of that is on FR somewhere....

In short, everything about Debka screamed 'deceptively unprofessional.' They were freshly hatched then.

Of course, maybe by now they have accumulated more of a record and links to make them look more interesting and ditched the old stuff.

Thanks for the post. Welcome to the neighborhood. Debka is always cool to read, and they are only a little less credible then Rueters or AP or the NYTimes, and they don't spin as much.

I just checked with Nikolai, a friend of mine from Russia. He says Debka is Russian for Hyper-Detailed Bullshit. I always find it amazing how much information some people can pack into a single word.

ES, I think you’ll find that about 95% of what Debka says is wrong. When they do happen to coincide with reality, it’s just that, a coincidence.!

I disagree somewhat. I think Debka has about a 50/50 split when it comes to accuracy. Many of their reports have been scoffed at by Freepers, and later turn out to be true.

I do think that this particular story is complete B.S.
