Coincidences?
Hard, Armchair Detective Work | 10/11 - 10/17 2002 | md576

Isn't it odd that some people have so many incriminating circumstances in their life that you can find one circumstance after another of why they might be the sniper?

COINCIDENCES?

It all started back on Friday Oct. 11th after the media released information about the death tarot card being left at the scene. Everyone here knows how good Google is so I was searching for sniper and death tarot card. One of the first links to come up was a story called "Sniperstory" written by HitmanMH and posted in it's entirety on Aug.22nd. I read some of the story and it was a fictional story set in the U.K. and spoke of elite snipers on teams. You can read Google's cached version here. Most of the story is gone now because I called the tip line but the rest of it was mostly the same. Talked of whole decks of death cards and picking off people. The story was pulled the day after I reported it.

Then I started doing a little more digging into what Airsoft was and what type of people play. Mostly teens. I posted my theories back at that time on FR and got little flack but not much. Airsoft is a military style paintball game where you pretend kill each other in combat. I also pulled up the cached version of the story and kept noticing that the character "SHADOW" was always in all caps. So, I decided to do a search on the player database for that name.(Note: I had already looked up HitmanMH and it was not there.) The name "SHADOW" did come up and it intrigued me. I then searched for all names in that story to find out who all had the same nicknames as the characters. Only two came up, "SHADOW" & "Glimmer". I then noticed these two guys were on the same team together "Team Shadow Warriors" (elite sniper team) and both lived in the Newport News/Hampton beltway area. This freaked me out since "SHADOW" had down that he had played Airsoft for over 16 years (Glimmer 4). Obviously not some kids. I started looking at all access roads to shootings from Hampton and found many. I looked up "SHADOW'S" name under the city and state he provided and only came up with a woman in Hampton with that last name. O.K. I thought, it could be his mom.

Then, I ran a search on Monday morning for his full name in Virginia and found only one listing having his full name along with his wife's. I then looked up their address on the map and it was on Fairfax Woods Way. This is about 20 minutes from shooting #12 (Michael's). I then posted on FR that my suspect may now live in the Fairfax area. I also said the news should stop talking about that guy they had who'd been shot or he would retaliate. I also started to notice how each 3rd shooting was opposite each 2nd shooting. Looked as if #1,4,7,10 were middle dots and each corresponding shooting was opposite each other. This also gave me suspicions since #10(middle) had #11 as the South dot and that #12 shooting would be the D.C. beltway. That night Linda Franklin, 47, of Arlington, VA was shot approximately 20 minutes East of where this possible suspect lived. Both #10 and #12 (late night) shootings would put his house directly in the middle down Lee Hwy/Arlington Avenue. All late night shootings have occurred right in this general vicinity. Given this info I had I called the Fairfax police as no one else seemed to care. This policewoman was VERY interested and extremely patient to take all my information. She said she would run it down right away.

Since then, there have been no further shootings. Yes, all of these could be simple coincidences. Would you have called?

I have also done some more searching and found out this guy may also be a soil and water conservation inspector for an area just northeast of Hampton.

In sticking to most theories I have heard on the news by professional snipers, hunters and others it seems that everyone believes this person to not be military but may have some training. This person has a God Complex and it would be someone who drives a white van and might have stayed home Monday because his wife works a Fed. Job. Someone here found his wife working in D.C. but the info was unavailable after he went back to double check.

It seems like I have a good story and many Freepers were interested in hearing it. So,  I have posted this story in the hopes that is will be an "I told you so" document or it may be used as a "coincidences are amazing" story that proves how one person can have almost everything in his life point to him as the perpetrator while they could be just as upset and effected by this as we all are. My apologies to the innocent if jerks try to use this information to find out this guys name. I suggest you leave it alone at this thread as the Fairfax Police were notified and they keep telling us they have people under surveillance. I also want to say that if this particular guy isn't the sniper than maybe someone that fits this profile could be. Just something for you to read. I would rather you not post to this thread as I don't want it bumped where too many people can see it. It is mainly here to give as a link for interested Freepers that ask me what my theories are. If you have any comments, I am in the daily thread or you can Freepmail me.

Sincerely,

MD2576 (armchair detective agency:j/k), Florida.

Please remember that this could be, and probably is, an innocent person with what could be absolutely no circumstances pointing to him whatsoever. Please do not attempt to track down or post incriminating or personal information about anyone.

There is a heavily wooded, private park just outside of my town that has been converted into a commercial paintball war zone (for lack of a better description). A friend of mine joined this group several years ago, played for a few weekends, and then abruptly quit. When I asked why, he explained that some of these folks took the game too seriously. The playing field was very uneven due to the elaborate expense some players would go to.

It is my understanding that the more expensive guns have adjustable air pressure, tighter clearances, and expel the paint balls with incredible force. Since they shoot each other, guys just playing around would literally get hurt. He described the competition as extremely serious and some of the players didn't consider this a game. It is an odd mentality.

Should the shooter/shooters turn out to be foreign terrorists, I shudder to think of the sheer panic and apprehension difficulty we will face. I for one, sure hope you're suspicions are right.

I would also like to add, in case any were suspicious, the first post was only a ping removed at the posters request.

It has come to my attention that my suspect in Fairfax is not the same person that was listed as living in Hampton. I will continue to post any new information regarding this theory because it has still yet to be disproven that SHADOW or another similar character is not resposible. SHADOW is still living in Hampton. I also got a tip that another person's nickname is God. I have not personally looked into this but will update if it has similar coinsidences.

Another post sent to me:

The founding member of Delta Force was just on FOX, and what I could catch was this:
--this is not someone acting alone
--this is a wannabee sniper who is really into "creating a sense of reality" as to his being a sniper
--this is a delivery or service-type person who might regularly call on these places
--this is most definitely NOT al quaeda

I've heard experts explain how this guy must be an expert marksman. Other experts say they can take someone off the street and in a few days have them firing at the same level as this guy. And today I heard someone say that anyone can fire a rifle with a powerful scope with the same degree of accuracy as a sniper.

I've tried it and I sure can't.

More info on SHADOW:

This is a post from a forum written by him:

Question: How can you afford so many Airsoft rifles:

Answer:
I own my own business, I offer a full complete high pressure cleaning, painting and sand-blasting service, the company's name is --------------, Inc. High Pressure Cleaning Services, e-mail address -----------@hotmail.com. I offer residential, commercial and industrial/marine high pressure cleaning, painting and sand-blasting.

So, it's not an issue of if I can afford airsoft, if I want something I just buy it.

Of course, I have to ask my wife first.

SHADOW: Oh, Honey, can I get the new Q Project Mini-Gun?

Mrs. SHADOW: How much does it cost?

SHADOW: Huh...5 grand, give or take.

Mrs. SHADOW: YOU ARE FREAKIN' CRAZY!!

Glimmer is the lead foreman. A post by Shadow several months ago indicated he had a contract in N. Carolina, and on weekends he was traveling down there to relieve some of his employees.

This post is a review of Shadows custom gun:

That's not safe at all, and drastically exceeds the Joule-energy safety limit that his team/group has set up in good-faith.

Indeed, the cited replica is capable of 3.51 Joules of produced initial velocity -- which is equivalent to a 0.20 gram BB traveling at well over 600 fps.

Not only is that taking unfair advantage of the skirmish rules, it also greatly exceeds their groups' safety limits.
