Home, home on the Grange....
Nearly a dozen Capitol Valley Area Freepers held an organizational
meeting at the historic Fair Oaks Grange Hall last evening. The group
discussion focused on local area issues and priorities.
Under the able leadership of farmfriend, some immediate tasks
have been delegated and the next meeting scheduled for August 21st
in Midtown Sacramento.
Other familiar Freeper names were put with faces and included Saundra Duffy,
tinacart, comwatch, christie, freedombelle and GWB Group
members Phil Pincombe, Scotty1998 (Roger) and his wife.
The membership drive is on folks... we're in the belly of the beast and
need the talents and resolve Freepers are famous for. We'll be setting
up a dedicated web site, e-mail list and expanding the freepers.org area.
Feel free to drop farmfriend an e-mail or call me at 916-448-1636 for
breaking developments.
When a small group of midtown residents banned together to take down drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, muggers and burglars, beat officers dubbed our little community center "The Bunker". Technology proved to be the key to their success (See Caught on Tape on the website)
Comwatch rejoined Free Republic in September 2000 as the Clinton crime bill fraud resulted in fewer police officer on the beat while the Sacrament Bee, City Manager and police chief spun the opposite tale. The COPS lie became a campaign issue in the presidential election, with AlGore exacerbating the lie even more. After years of digging for and proving the propaganda a lie, The Bunker turned it's efforts to conservative activism with greater fervor. We joined GWBers and Freepers when President Bush came to our city (See Patriot Defenders Network) and challenged the Anti-Everything Crowd at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium.
Since the next meeting of our reorganized Freeper Chapter will be hosted here, I thought some of you would enjoy a pictorial tour of the technology we'll make available to the group.
Welcome to our humble digs in midtown Sacramento. The nerve center of The Bunker includes Comwatch's work station (left) and the network server (right) and high speed internet connectivity to all three work stations. This is where our new website will be developed soon.
The community p.c, (left) is arm's reach to the coffee pot and refreshments... hospitality is the hallmark and all Freepers are welcome. Video/Audio is a big part of our future plans and the media center (right) allows production of netmeetings and live internet radio production.
Make no mistake who's boss at The Bunker. I tolerate all of Comwatch's visitors. If you're really nice, I'll let you rub my neck. I only complain when I'm dragged kicking and scratching from my sunbathing spot. Still, since I rule the roost, "Ya all com'on down, ya hear.
Pressure from the top brass made the Bunker off limits for a while, but our heroes in blue never let us down. Now retired, Pat Dowden has been a loyal friend and we'll be cheering him on in court next month as he continues his civil | action against the police brass and the city. Expect to meet some great professionals when you hang out here. Anyone with a keen interest in public safety will want to jump on board with the many issues still facing our city. |
I failed to mention Lizaard's (emphasis on the aa's) two pals, Bird and Bird-II... they too have free run of the bunker. Somehow I just can't see incarcerating my pets.... dirt bags in the hood yes... but not God's wonderful little innocent critters.
Yes, it was so nice to have Saundra there with so much insight into the workings of FR, etc. Thanks to farmfriend for supplying the grange. It's a big place (and quite old) nestled among the trees and not far from those river breezes. We'll be seeing ya at the bunker.
Phil will rag on me for not including picture of (left to right) Bird and Bird-II in the Bunker's list of assets.
Yeah yeah, I know... it's time to convince a lady we're all worthy of a relationship. But who would put up with me? Nice view though, huh.
No body did any pinging on this thread. I can't do anything without a ping list. How do you guys know what is going on if no one flags you????
As to ping and bump, they are essentially the same. It is the intent that separates them. A bump's (bttt) intent is to bump it to the top of the latest post list. A ping's intent is to call the thread to the attention of someone.
Many freepers have ping lists. It is a list of names saved somewhere that can be cut and pasted into the to box. I have the Klamath ping list created to call people to threads on Klamath but I use it for other enviral threads. mhking has a conservative blacks list that I am also on. Get some great stuff from that. petuniasevan has an Astronomy picture of the day that I enjoy, and Snow Bunny and 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub call me to the USO threads. I also get pings from Free the USA and madfly for enviro threads. Ernest_at_the_Beach keeps me up on the Cal Power crisis and government corruption.
Many freepers prefer not to be on ping lists but go to the subject lists.
If you have an article on a certain subject, like Klamath, you put the title of the appropriate list in the to box, in this case klamathbasincrisis or Klamath_list.
