JUKU: A COMICS ALBUM RELEASED

My first book, Juku: A Comics Album, is now available for sale at Amazon.com. For those of you who enjoy reading comics, but balk at the thought of paying three bucks for a thin "comic book" chock full of ads, Juku is for you -- a comic book worthy of the name: 244 pages, eight original stories (two by me), black and white, squarebound, ten bucks. The stories range from dopey sci-fi action to personal drama, with parody, humor, and true-life reminescences thrown in for good measure. It's easy to read, family-friendly, and contains no nudity or graphic gore. Handy size and durable construction -- great for bus or bathroom. And at less than five cents per page, it's by far the best value in comics today! (Average mainstream comics average 12¢/page.)

Even if you hate comics, please give Juku a try -- you might be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks,

Bruce "B-chan" Lewis

A very interesting concept...I'm surprised no one ever thought of it before.

When it comes to comics, I'm more into the animated kind.

It was obvious to us that the American comic "book" (at 24 pages including ads, comic pamphlet is more like it) was no longer a commercially viable form. Since we have no interest in doing "collectible" comics, and since mainstream American comics audiences tend to have tastes too narrow to suit us creatively, we decided to publish an "album" -- a comic book that's truly a book, with an ISBN number and everything -- and to do it as cheaply as possible. (The book actually costs only $5.00 when you buy it direct from us -- the Amazon price includes their costs plus postage and handling.)

It's a good idea, but not a new one; in other countries, comics still hold their rightful place as inexpensive reading material for the average Joe. We at CDE look to the Japanese and Mexican "big, cheap, variety throw-away" comics model for inspiration, not to the boutique publishers like Marvel or DC.

We hope you enjoy the book.

Bro, I most certainly will give it a read.

Hope the support helps and I look forward to it. I have a thirteen year old son (Jared who hads been with me on many efforts) who is very into comics and I will give it to him ... after Dad digests it! LOL!

Best of luck and God bless.
