JERUSALEM, May 8 (AFP) - A Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up late Tuesday in a crowded southern Tel Aviv pool hall, killing at least 15 people and injuring another 50.Following is a chronology of major anti-Israeli attacks by Palestinian militants since the start of the Palestinian intifada against Israeli occupation on September 28, 2000.
2000
- Oct 26: An explosives-laden militant from Islamic Jihad is blown up when he rams his bicycle into an army post on a road near a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli soldier is slightly wounded.
- Nov 2: A bomb planted in a car kills 2 people in West Jerusalem.
- Nov 20: A bomb attack on a bus carrying Jewish settlers in the southern Gaza Strip kills 2 people and injures 9.
- Nov 22: Two people are killed and 25 are injured near a booby-trapped car in Hadera, north of Tel-Aviv.
- Dec 31: Two Jewish settlers, the son and daughter in law of the founder of the anti-Arab Kach party, Meir Kahane, are killed in a gun attack near the West Bank Jewish settlement of Ofra.
2001
- March 1: A Palestinian detonates a bomb when his taxi is stopped by police near the northern Israeli town of Umm el-Fahm, killing one person and wounding nine.
- March 4: Four people are killed, including the bomber, in an attack in Netanya. More than 40 people are wounded.
- March 28: Two Israeli teenagers are killed along with a suicide bomber and four people wounded in an attack at a service station by Kfar Saba.
- April 22: Two are killed and around 40 wounded when a suicide bomber blows himself up in Kfar Saba, northeast of Tel Aviv.
- May 18: Five Israelis are killed and around 100 injured when a Hamas suicide bomber blows himself up outside a shopping centre in Netanya.
- June 1: Twenty-one people are killed and scores more wounded in a suicide bombing outside a beachfront Tel Aviv nightclub claimed by Hamas.
- June 22: Two Israeli soldiers are killed in a bomb blast in the Gaza Strip that also kills the attacker.
- July 16: Two Israelis are killed when an Islamic Jihad militant blows himself up at a railway station bus stop in northern Israel.
- Aug 9: Fifteeen people are killed and 88 wounded in a Palestinian suicide bomb attack in west Jerusalem by Jaffa Road, claimed by Hamas.
- Aug 25: Three Israeli soldiers are killed and seven others wounded when commandos of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine breach security at a Gaza Strip army post, before two of them are shot dead.
- Sept 9: Three killed, 36 wounded by suicide attack at a train station in Nahariya in northern Israel. Hamas claimed the attack.
- Oct 2: Two young Hamas gunmen infiltrate a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip, shoot dead two Israelis and wound 15 other people before being killed by soldiers.
- Oct 4: A Palestinian gunman, from a splinter faction of Arafat's Fatah movement, kills three Israelis and wounds 14 at the central bus station in the northern Israeli city of Afula, before soldiers shoot him dead.
- Oct 7: An Islamic Jihad suicide bomber kills himself and an Israeli in the northern Israeli town of Beit Shean.
- Oct 28: Two Islamic Jihad gunmen open fire in the northern Israeli city of Hadera, killing four women and wounding 31 others before being shot dead.
- Nov 4: An Islamic Jihad gunman opens fire on an Israeli bus in east Jerusalem, kills two schoolgirls and wounds 35 other passengers before being shot dead.
- Nov 27: Two Palestinian gunmen, one from Islamic Jihad and another from a military offshoot of Fatah, open fire at a bus station in Afula, killing two Israelis and wounding more than two dozen others, before being shot dead.
- Nov 29: An Islamic Jihad militant blows himself up on a passenger bus in northern Israel and kills three Israelis and wounds another six.
- Dec 1: Two Palestinians from Hamas blow themselves up in a west Jerusalem pedestrianised precinct, killing 10 other people and wounding around 170.
- Dec 2: Sixteen people are killed and 40 others wounded when a Hamas suicide bomber blows himself up in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
- Dec 12: Eight Israelis are gunned down on a bus in the West Bank near a Jewish settlement close to Nablus.
2002
- Jan 9: Two Hamas militants kill four Israeli soldiers before being shot dead near an Israeli village on the edge of the Gaza Strip.
- Jan 17: Another Palestinian gunman from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades mows down six Israelis and wounds at least 24 others at a ballroom party, before being shot dead himself.
- Jan 22: A Palestinian gunman from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades opens fire on Jaffa Road, killing two Israelis and injuring 39, before being shot dead.
- Jan 27: The first ever Palestinian woman suicide bomber sets off an explosion on Jaffa Road, west Jerusalem's main street, killing an elderly Israeli and wounding dozens. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claims the attack.
- Feb 7: A Hamas gunman goes on a shooting spree at the Jewish Hamra plantation in the Jordan Valley, gunning down a woman settler and her baby, as well as a soldier, before being killed himself.
- Feb 10: Two Palestinian gunmen from Hamas kill two Israeli women soldiers at a restaurant near the southern army headquarters in Beersheva before being mowed down.
- Feb 17: A Palestinian suicide bomber from the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) kills two young Israelis and wounds 30 people when he blows himself apart in a shopping centre in a West Bank Jewish settlement.
- Feb 19: Palestinian gunmen kill six Israeli soldiers in an ambush on an army checkpoint in the West Bank. Three Palestinian groups claim responsibility, including two groups linked with Fatah and the armed wing of the Islamic radical movement Hamas.
- March 3: A suicide bomber from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades kills 10 other people and wounds dozens more in a religious neighbourhood of west Jerusalem.
- March 10: A Palestinian suicide bomber slipped into a crowded Jerusalem cafe Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's residence late Saturday, killing 11 other people and wounding around 50 others in a massive blast.
- March 20: A suicide bomber blows himself up and kills seven others on a bus in the northern Israeli town of Umm el-Fahem, in an attack claimed by Islamic Jihad.
- March 21: A suicide bomb attack in West Jerusalem kills 3 people besides the bomber.
- March 27: A suicide bomber kills 27 people with over 100 injured in an attack at a hotel in the northern Israeli city of Netanya. Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claim responsibility for the attack. This was the fiercest attack since the beginning of the Palestinian uprising.
- March 29: Suicide bomb attack on a supermarket in Kiryat Yovel, a district in west Jerusalem. Three dead including the bomber.
- March 31: Suicide bomb attack on a Haifa restaurant kills 16 Israelis.
- April 10: A suicide bomb attack, claimed by the Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, in a bus near the Israeli town of Haifa kills eight passengers including the bomber and leaves 20 others injured.
- April 12: A suicide bomb attack, claimed by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, kills the bomber and six other people near a crowded Jerusalem market and leaves more than 50 others injured.
- April 27: Two Palestinian gunmen kill four settlers and injure at least six others in an attack in the West Bank Jewish settlement of Adora.
- May 7: A Palestinian suicide bomber blows himself up in a crowded hall in southern Tel Aviv, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 50 others. The attack was claimed in an anonymous call by the armed wing of Hamas.
