Planning Thread I - Freepers Going to Texas State Republican Convention, Dallas, TX, June 7-8, 2002
None | 07 April 2002 | PetroniDE

Posted on 04/07/2002 2:18:05 PM PDT by PetroniDE

The Texas Senate District Conventions were held yesterday, Saturday April 6 across the state of Texas. Many Freepers were precinct delegates and some of them have been selected as delegates and alternates to the state convention, scheduled for Dallas, TX on June 7-8, 2002.

I am starting this thread for several reasons:

1) To identify who is going to the convention and the general area they will be coming from.
2) It is likely that several people are coming from the same area, carpools can be arranged if desired.
3) To assist in determining how many Freepers will be in Dallas to stimulate Freeper activity. I suspect that there will be a sizeable number of us in Dallas.

Location: Fort Bend County, (Sugar Land)

Will ride with or take anyone who doesn't smoke. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but can't take it in a closed car for four hours.

We need to try for the same hotel when the list comes out, and perhaps plan a dinner one night. The evening events at the convention are both crowded and lame.

That's a 5 hour drive, folks. Seat belts and Valium suggested if you ride with HoustonCurmudgeon.

Darth,

Might be a plan to car pool up to Dallas. We might have a couple of other deligate riders from the Clear Lake area going.

I'm the alternate deligate to the Texas state convention for Precinct 749, SD 11.

Any one else interested in assiting with a FRN booth at the TX state convention?

I can bring my RC blimp, so we could have a boothless FR advertising presence. I'll have to order a couple of FR bumperstickers from freeperstuff.com to replicate the FRN airship #1 of Bob J's.

If someone can print up a bunch of FR tri-fold brochures and business cards, we could just hand them out to people as we mingle.

What do you think about my idea about a boothless FR advertising presence at the state convention exhibit hall?

If we can team up with another conservative organization that is planning to have a booth, we could offer to put their bumpersticker on one side of my RC blimp in return for us being able to stage from their booth (and maybe have a corner of their table to put FR brochures and business cards.

Dallas Convention Center area hotels.

Hotel room rate quote comparison The Amerisuites Dallas West End seems to be a fairly good deal at $127.00-$149.00/night for a 3 star hotel with 149 rooms at 0.7 mi. from the Dallas convention center.

Map of area around the Dallas convention center.
