[history]
LAST month, President Bush shut down three U.S.-based "charities" accused of funneling money to Hamas, a terrorist organization that last year alone was responsible for at least 20 bombings, two shootings and a mortar attack that killed 77 people. These "charities" - The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Global Relief Foundation and the Benevolence International Foundation - raised $20 million last year alone.

This article is an excellent accompaniment to Greg Pierce's article in today's Washington Times. I think it's very telling, with one important exception...Morris is leaving out his role in the story of Clinton's failure to prosecute a war against terrorism.
It was Morris who suggested the strategy of linking the OKC bombing through "right-wing hate radio" to the Republican majority in Congress. It was this strategy that led to the government shutdown of 1995, the subsequent loss of seats in the House in '96 and '98, and the end of the Contract with America. It also pre-saged the Clinton impeachment defense.
Allowing Clinton to characterize terrorism as an "off-shore" threat prior to OKC might have prevented Morris from proposing what came to be a successful strategy for Willie.

He was right in the middle of the terror tactics against Clinton enemies. Do you remember that propaganda documentary put out by Klinton's Hollywood buddies called "The War Room"? The final scene has Steponallofus threatening someone on the phone because they were inquiring about Bubba's sleazy past in Arkansas.
I bet the magazine you were thinking about is "George", which is JFK Jr's old mag.

And this is why, if Congress holds hearings on the Sept 11th attack, Bubba should be subpoenaed, placed under oath, and grilled about the motives for his inaction.

Edward Zehr is dead? I hadn't heard. That saddens me greatly. How did he die?
Whatever happened to Washington Weekly? They used to be a relatively important investigative news outlet, then they all but disappeared, save for Mr. Zehr's column.

Clinton is not the only one guilty of holding up investigations of groups suspected of funding terrorism.Just where did you get your information? Are you a member of the FBI? As a long time lurker and member I am going to point out that you are a member since Dec 2001.

If I recall correctly, Clinton streamlined the process of naturalization to add minorities to the voting pool. The stories at the time(1994-95) indicated that at least 60,000 felons including rapists and murders were granted citizenship at this time. You loosen the rules for one group you loosen them for all. Hope the Clintons enjoyed their re-election in 1996, we are all paying for it now.

Our relationship with the Saudi's is fraught with tension to be sure and our energy situation has to be part of any mix, but your inference in your intial post was a bridge too far, IMO.
I'm not sure I understand your reference to sources in the FBI. I'm assuming you didn't mean you personally and I still have doubts that the truth of whatever occured conforms to a "Bush soft on terrorism" conclusion.
Thanks for your reply.

The FBI is telling it like it is...
FBI agents have stated that they were prevented from opening either criminal or national-security cases because of a fear that it would be seen as "profiling" Islamic charities. While Clinton was politically correct, the Hamas flourished
