[history]
Ever since the Taliban took control of most of Afghanistan in 1996, the group has imposed its harsh version of Islamic law on the country. In "Beneath the Veil," journalist Saira Shah traveled to Afghanistan to see the effects of the Taliban's rule on her father's homeland.

Thanks for posting this; I didn't get to see the whole thing, and wanted to catch it when it re-aired. I'll be sure to set my VCR.
I did see parts of it, though; *extremely* disturbing.

I saw it. I should be required viewing for all american women. After it they'll probably be ready to take up arms themselves.

What the EXTREMIST MUSLIMS want for America.
To: It Matters
"I" shouldn't be required viewing "It" should be required viewing. If I was required viewing they would be taking up arms against themselves.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to catch it.

Based on that issue -- why did we educate the Taliban at School for the Americas in Georgia? For many years, large numbers of people have been fighting to stop funding for that institution. Do some members of Congress bear responsibility for this tragedy?

Well, Tia, as the School of the Americas was designed for Latin American officers, one cannot be quite sure that the Talebani even made it to the SOA.
I would be amazed to find out if any Afghan rebels were trained at the SOA.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

why did we educate the Taliban at School for the Americas in Georgia?Excellent question. From what I have seen and read, most members of the Taliban are college age men with a few older "TEACHERS" who are advisors.
It is my experience that college age KIDS do not have the experience to run their own lives, much less a country and as for the teachers, don't get me started.

Thanks for the heads up on this show.
Another show to listen to is the 9-23-01 discussion on Islamic Fundamentalist Extremism featuring author Howard Bloom with host Ian Punnett in The Art Bell Archives. Insipid comments from the host and callers aside, it'll give you great insight into the mind of our enemy- very, very, VERY disturbing!!! Please pass this along to anyone who needs to be brought up to speed on this topic.
Don't pooh-pooh this. It's not your typical Art Bell "tinfoil hat" type stuff. It's very clear headed and VERY serious.
Thanks gang!
Love, Musket.

Check out this morning's issue of the Santa Fe New Mexican and the interview with Representative Tom Udall. By the way, I don't smoke.
