My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---
When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?
Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?
Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?
I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.
I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.

America has become increasingly filled with godless, self-worshipping, undisciplined people who either despise all authority because it puts a crimp in their self-worshipping style, or who demand that government treat them as victims and provide for their every physical or psychic desire. These people understand only half of the calculus of freedom: the self-oriented side. The other half--the God-seeking side--they reject and hold in derision.
Each American begins to lose his liberty the day he rejects God and the necessary checks on personal behavior that traditional Judeo-Christian religion teaches. The heathen will rage at that truth. OWK will surely smell a spectral "boogerman" lurking behind it. But truth is truth. Restrictions on liberties inevitably result when we reject God.

The reason I posted this, is because I believe strongly that in the days ahead it is our duty to our posterity to guard against emotionally charged moves to curtail our unalienable rights as American citizens.
History would tend to support this caution on our part, I do believe.
Last night, our President called this an attack on freedom. I agree.
Actually, I am greatly encouraged by the reaction of the people of New York and by the actions and demeanor of Americans out here in the heartland. New Yorkers are to be praised!! No looting, no mass panic. Just a serious outpouring of love and concern for their fellow citizens.
Seeing this in America's largest city, one with a reputation as an urban jungle, is gratifying to say the least, and causes this particular observer to have great hope for our nation.
I see communities praying together...young and old...sobered, humbled and united like never before in my lifetime.
So, once again, I think you misjudge the intent of this thread. Just because a few throw out wild and crazy thoughts, doesn't diminish the fact that if this causes a recommittment on the part of the people of this country to the principles it was founded upon, the terrorists will have lost their little Jihad.
You are truly despicable, using this tragedy to further you personal agenda and hatred against others, with whom you disagree.
It is obvious you have no interest in uniting, only dividing, and will use horrid events such as these as an excuse to drive the wedge deeper, and create animosity.

I agree 100% with your assessment of Harry Browne's statements on WorldNetDaily.
If everyone was armed on these flights, we would still have 226 dead people. A single bullet can bring down a airliner, image the OK corral inside a 767. And with air rage, as popular as it is today, there would be allot more airliners going down.I'm not saying that everybody on the flight should be armed. I don't think we should just have a gun cart next to the "bag lunch" cart that some airlines have so that passengers can just pick up a gun before they get on the plane and drop it off when they get off the plane.
I'm aware that a gun, especially a gun with the wrong amunition, can do serious damage to an airplane in flight. I'm also aware that, with the proper amunition, the right gun isn't a danger to the plane itself. It's only a threat to the people inside.
But there's no reason not to have a CCW type program for airline passengers. Something like what RightOnline proposed in his thread "Is It Time for a New "Concealed Carry" Category.........for Air Travel?".
The necessary elements to make this a serious deterrent are that the potential bad guys can't know how many of the "victims" are armed, or where they are located. Arming pilots or flight crews just gives the bad guys their first target(s). A single air marshal is similarly a first target. Even an undercover air marshal is a single threat and easier to deal with. The best deterrence is an indeterminable number of armed people on the flight.
Having said that, the rules for hijackers changed yesterday. It became much more difficult to hijack a plane. The old rule was that the hijackers wouldn't kill everyone on the plane, and in exchange for that, flight crew, cabin crew and passengers would cooperate with the hijackers while the plane was in the air.
Yesterday's hijackers broke that rule, and no hijacker will ever be trusted to honor it ever again. Under the old rules, a group of 3 hijackers had numerical odds of 3 against none because nobody would resist them. Now, it'll be 3 against 60+ because all the passengers, cabin crew and flight crew will probably resist. People used to be scared of hijackers. I'll bet that now, people will be really ticked off at any potential hijacker.

Have you checked Rivero's posts? These are not only despicable, but absolutely anti-American. Only a lowdown dog like Rivero would imply the US Govt had anything to do with this tragedy. If you have any sense at all, you'll think about what else he's trying to tell you--who he *really* wants to blame it on, but lacks that balls to say it.

BTW, all the law enforcement who were killed while trying to save people? How do you feel about that?
Senator Kay Bailey-Hutchinson (RINO, TX) is on the Senate floor right now praising the FAA for outlawing all knives on airline flights. They're also doing away with curbside baggage check in.
I'm wondering how they're going to find the plastic and nylon blades?
Maybe they'll just make us sign a form under penalty of prison sentence that we aren't carrying a knife or planning to hijack the airplane.

I agree with this. Guns are our friends, when used my the right people for the right reasons. We ought to demand this. Arm the pilots; arm the crew; and train them.
