Gov. Ned Lamont said no one was seriously hurt. But officials urged drivers to look for other routes.

As someone that made the nightmarish commute for 5 years from upstate CT to Stamford, the "other " routes are the already jammed Merrit Parkway, and the always delightful US RTE 1.

About 15 miles up the road this striech of 95 had a bridge collapse, 20 or so years ago.

Right underneath an overpass just like that Los Angeles fire a while back that destroyed that infrastructure.

Seems oddly coincidental.

I remember reading about that. A span of the Mianus River Bridge dropped into the river late at night in 1983, killing several people.

Why does this always happen at underpasses.

As opposed to a non-firey inferno? Or a somewhat firey inferno? Sheesh, who edits this stuff.

Like a disco inferno.

Not so much hot, as cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5lSeYd_riw

At least we can rest assured that the Secretary of Transportation is keeping everyone safe. He’s not distracted by cramming things up his backside or anything like that.

I also thought it was odd that the fire was right under a bridge.

Seems like there’s a lot of that, more than you’d expect form just coincidence. But the thought that someone is deliberately starting fires like that under bridges doesn’t really make sense.

“Fiery inferno”?

Is there any other kind?

In any case, I read the article. Looks bad, especially for the overpass.

Exactly. There is no other route. I used to drive from Queens to Milford on Fridays. There are no good days on this stretch.

It happens at overpasses, because that’s where there are big concrete pillars for the trailer to crash into.

I drove over that bridge (Cos Cob?) that collapsed the day before it went down.
