New York Lawmakers Considering Legislation to Create ‘Antisemitism Monitors’ on College Campuses

Two New York representatives are considering a bill that would send “antisemitism monitors” to visit college and university campuses that receive federal funding.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) are set to introduce the College Oversight and Legal Updates Mandating Bias Investigations and Accountability (COLUMBIA) Act, according to Jewish Insider.

Under the bill, the Department of Education would be allowed to send a third-party antisemitism monitor, paid for by the colleges and universities, to university and college campuses that receive funding from the federal government.

The problem is that too many in Congress are like the guy whose only tool is a hammer, so he sees every problem as a nail.

First they need a legal definition of ‘semitic, antisemitic’ . Is antisemitism a feeling someone has against another? What legality arises when someone just cannot stand another for any reason. They’ll never find a legal leg to stand on to accuse much less bring a legal action. Lawyers will fatten already bursting bank accounts is all that will come of it.

So who’s going to staff these positions, associates of the ADL because of their “expertise” in antisemitism? And how do they intend to define antisemitism, will they conflate anti-Zionism with antisemitism and throw any True Torah Jews in jail?

I doubt the ADL will throw "True Torah Jews" in jail. The ADL still defends Orthodox Jews.

Anti-Zionism is almost always antisemitism by definition. It is opposition to the existence of Israel, and since Israel exists, it is calling for the mass murder and dislocation of Jews. It's genocidal. The existance of a few hundred apostates on the payroll of Iran and the PLO doesn't change that reality

Not entirely. Jews have long been presented as oppressed (non-white) in the context of European history. Only in the context of recent Mideast history are Jews regarded as oppressors (whites colonizers).
