I always thought the Pink Floyd song went, "Teachers, leave those kids alone."

Can’t spell Satan without Nasa.

It’s the same with minus the T. That’s why countdowns are always “T Minus”.

I had a brief discussion one time with a person who insisted our moon did NOT rotate on its axis at all. His evidence to support his assertion was, "Why do you think the moon always only shows one side to Earth!"

I had to use two tennis balls on a table...three times...before he relented, and to his credit, admitted he'd been wrong.

You can bet Bill Nelson went back to his office and was an abusive terror to his staff so none dared laugh about his brainless nakedness. That’s how idiots and bullies survive.

There was a poster on this forum, who sadly passed away about 15 years ago, Boris, who was a big advocate for locating a radio telescope on the far side of the moon, where it would shielded from interference from earth-based radio interference.

Nelson responded; We don’t know what is on the backside of the moon,

Nonsense. It has been thoroughly mapped by both Russian and American spacecraft. See HERE for example.

if we are talking to a layperson and they indicated they didn’t know the difference between a motion to dismiss and a motion for summary judgment, we wouldn’t bat an eyelash at it. That is a level of ignorance that is just normal and justifiable for people who don’t deal with the law very much. We wouldn’t make fun of a such person for not knowing that or look down on them: We would simply explain the difference.

On FR, such a person would be called a noob, a DU plant, Zeeper, Putinista, Deep Stater, troll, Soros bot, or worst of all a Springsteen fan.

It is interesting (to me anyway) that the length of the lunar day is the same as the synodic (moon-phase) month. Most people do not know that the earth rotates on its axis ~366.25 per year, at least with respect to the fixed stars.

The fact that the moon is tidally locked to the earth means that the earth is always more or less (ignoring libration) in the same position in the sky from any fixed point on the moon, and never visible from the far side. The phase of the earth visible from the moon is the complement of the phase of the moon. When we see a full moon, the earth is dark (”new earth”) on the moon. When we see a new moon, moonlings see a full earth. A first quarter moon, corresponds to a third quarter earth.

I always thought the dark side of the moon was where they kept all the cheese.

The far side of the moon was first photographed in 1959 by the Soviet Union. They did it using American film. They got the film from shooting down American spy balloons floating over their territory.

For a moon architect this is a neat feature. He could have Earth framed as part of the building design!

“Is this the Bill Nelson who used to be a Senator or US House Rep from FL???”

He was both and, before that, a member of the Florida House.

First elected as a state legislator about 1972; maybe 74.

Started as a moderate Democrat. Evolved into a modern Democrat i.e. he supports the far, far left.

The things he supports are not just dangerous but deadly. He is a genial politician; I will say that.
