Trump defends House Speaker Mike Johnson amid ouster threat: ‘Trying very hard’
The New York Post ^ | 04/23/2024 | Josh Christenson

Posted on 04/23/2024 9:13:03 AM PDT by thegagline

“Look, we have a majority of one, OK? It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do,” Trump, 77, told radio host John Fredericks on Real America’s Voice Monday night.

“I think he’s a very good person. You know, he stood very strongly with me on NATO,” added Trump, referring to a campaign rally in which he urged member states to pay more for their common defense — or he would let Russia “do whatever the hell they want.”

“I think he’s trying very hard,” the 45th president concluded.

Johnson (R-La.) bucked the majority of his conference on Saturday and joined with 210 House Democrats to pass $60.8 billion that will assist Ukraine in its war against Russia.

*** “Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing, to resign, and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Two other House Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona — signed onto a motion introduced by Greene to vacate Johnson’s speakership ahead of the vote.

All three cited Johnson’s failure to secure the US border amid the growing migrant crisis, while Massie accused the speaker of getting run over by Democrats during recent negotiations on government spending. ***

The problem is the republican party, the entire republican party, and really our entire political system, anybody can see that. That was the reason for President Trump in the first place.

You go to war with the army you have not the army that you wish you had. Our army, unfortunately, is a bunch of Benedict Arnolds.

Sadly he has opted the wrong direction more than the right direction, wish it were not so but so many he has picked as staff or appointments have gone the wrong way. I think he believes to much of what he reads..instead of sitting whomever is the topic down and having a heart to heart discussion.

I don’t get it

With a slim majority, why do ANYTHING?

FISA reauthorization wasn’t necessary at this time

Ukraine wasted money wasn’t necessary at this time.

Border, border, border. That’s all they should be doing. Hammer it daily. Let the Dems defend themselves. Force the Dems to die on FISA and Ukraine in November.

But no. The RINOS hand them a win and piss off the Republican base.

Idiots!

As to FISA, it’s a canard to say, “oh, you should see what I saw in the SCIF”.

BULLCRAP! Let us see it and make up our minds. WE are your constituents. YOU answer to us. So any low IQ idiot that gets elected to the House is suddenly a national security expert? Give me a break.

The abuses far outweigh anything good.

Johnson could have done nothing. Let the Dems run defending themselves.

Now we have probably lost the House and frankly the Senate.

I disagree with Trump.

He has given it his all in blood, sweat, tears, not to mention the humiliation they have put him through and the literal billions of dollars it has cost him. And then someone who has never given-up anything for it's country but a few internet posts, has the audacity to say something like that. You are the reason we have biden."

I would add that President Trump's family has also been put through hell.

This is why I DESPISE the Never Trumpers. They are worse than the Democrats.

They have to know, (better than we do because they have more access to information), exactly what President Trump is up against.

They know how messed up our government is, and that Trump is trying to save this nation. Yet they plot against him and try to get something for themselves. Never mind that the country is being torn down.

Imagine if Republicans were as dedicated to saving America, and keeping Americans free, as Democrats are to destroying it, and taking away everyone's freedom -Would we be in the terrible situation we are in today?

Thus giving cover to Dems who can go home saying they opposed.

Dems in purple or reddish districts were given a gift.

Defending Johnson is defending the results: No money or action on the border, money for Ukraine AND even Ukraine border. Is this now Trump doctrine?

Unfortunately, it appears to be the case.

Trump is different than Johnson.

That’s why they brought 91 fake charges against him.

But this is a huge error by Trump. He’s trying to prop up a guy with a one seat majority.

There is no way he makes it to November.

Somebody dies, somebody gets sick, another one resigns, someone loses a primary and quits in a fit of pique, someone in a Biden district switches party... you can’t run things for six months on a one vote majority.

Repub betrayals and collaboration with the Dems is more demoralizing to the base than being in a one vote minority and actually opposing this stuff.

Let Jeffries try to run the House with a one vote majority.

Yes.

Repubs caving to Dems is the most demoralizing thing they could do.

“Fact is the whole system is beyond redemption....Gotta scatter it where no stone is upon another and start over. The corruption is just too engrained. “

Yup. Same in the UK. Same in Canada.

The current political structures in the West are all built using fake UniParty “conservatives” to sabotage any genuine opposition.

Trump is not part of their System.

91 false charges proves that.

But he makes lots of mistakes, especially on personnel selection.

” Absent the funding that Johnson passed through, the Ukraine WILL collapse and be over run by Russia by the end of the year.

Of course, the Republicans will be blamed and the November elections will be blood bath for the Republicans.”

People don’t vote on these foreign policy fringe issues. Those are only important to political obsessives.

What does demoralize them and changes voting is when their own politicians betray them, and collaborate with their enemies.

The amount of the majority does not matter. The Republicans have been losing in congress for 50 years or more. Yes, I am tired of losing.

Why give Trumps age and not Johnson’s?

They are shaping the narrative that BOTH Biden and Trump are old and trying to blur the lines from what your own eyes see - Biden is old and demented and Trump is active and sharp.

I’m thinking he’s compromised. He reminds me of Elon Musk. Talks about free speech but hires WEF’ers. With all the back stabbing and betrayal Trump gets, he continues to support those same types.

I noticed that DeSantis is making himself more and more available in the news cycle. Circling like a vulture thinking he has found a dead body, just waiting on the New York verdict.”

Still jumping the shark?
