Gov. Jared Polis signs bill eliminating most occupancy limits in housing — here’s what is still allowed

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis signed a bill into law Monday that officially eliminates most restrictions on how many unrelated roommates can live together in Colorado.

House Bill 1007 prohibits local governments from enacting occupancy limits, which Polis and other critics of the policy have derided as discriminatory and outdated. Roughly two dozen Colorado cities have such restrictions on the books, though lawmakers said that only a few — including the college town of Fort Collins — actively enforce them.

“This issue is both a housing issue and a civil rights issue,” Polis said during a bill-signing ceremony outside the Capitol. “It really is both. For housing, the opportunity for people to officially be on the lease — it gives them protections, allows them to start establishing their credit, gives them the certainty that they get to live here.”

Most homeless need more than a home.
Most abuse substances..chain smoke (fire hazard) can’t hold a job for more than a week or two..and many have criminal records..some involving children...or,generally have psychological issues.
Otherwise,they wouldn’t be homeless?

“Those were called “NINJA” loans:”

Good one. We called them “Foreclosures of the Future.” I was on one deal as listing agent. Buyer’s agent was late to the closing. Buyer sat in silence, didn’t speak English, wouldn’t do anything until Spanish-speaking buyer’s Realtor came flying into the room, said “I’m sorry, I have 8 closings today.” She sat down and the guy started signing.

“Black Rock has been buying up all the single family homes”

They own $60 billion out of $36 trillion, a tiny percentage.

It’s not a stretch when I say that he’s gearing up for the push for polygamous “marriage” in Colorado, on the heels of fake “gay marriage.”

Two Massachusetts cities already recognize plural relationships as marriage for all purposes that the city recognizes for binary marriage. And it began with the pretext of tenant “rights.” Watch and see.

Does that 4-parter have anything much to do w/ the original 1965 version?

Much better than the Julie Christie version

IMHO

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Zhivago_(TV_series)

My error I thought it was a four part series. Evidently just two parts.

It is panned for being too close to the book and therefore not a lyrical as the 68 film. It is close to the book and shows the totalitarian takeover baldly.

That is why I think it is a better and more important film series now.

REVIEWS
In the Sunday Telegraph John Preston commented “This version treated its audience as intelligent and assumed they had the ability to follow a story that unfolded visually rather than verbally”, adding that its “first and most self-evident virtue was that it looked more like a movie than a traditional telly drama. There was a real richness of texture here” and noted “...a wealth of other cleverly wrought, yet essentially simple touches”. He was less impressed with Andrew Davies’s script and Keira Knightley’s Lara, but commended Hans Matheson “terrific as the grown-up Yuri Zhivago – intense, playful, assured” and Giacomo Campiotti’s “bravura direction”.[5]

REVIEWS
Tom Jicha of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel called it “a stunning success” and continued, “Davies’ screenplay is involving, the cinematography is captivating, the costuming and set designs evoke a sense of time and place, and the top-of-the-marquee performances are world-class.” He concluded, “Doctor Zhivago is a hefty production, which demands a four-hour, commercial-free commitment from its audience. But the reward is a richly layered character study and love story, worthy of the franchise under which it airs.”[6]

Thanks. Mrs. M and I will check it out. But it has to live up to the film we saw together in April 1966 as we were falling in love during college.

I have since used the film as an educational tool for teaching world history/geography to HS sophomores during a 30 year stretch. Consequently, I have memorized the entire 3:17 script and quote it often as news stories contain some of its dystopian elements.

Occupancy limits are one of the reasons housing is so expensive....

Here in Wisconsin I have managed several apartment complexes and we have always followed HUD guidelines. 2 per bedroom plus one extra. So, in a 2 bedroom apartment 5 people would be the maximum and 7 in a 3 bedroom. That doesnt seem unreasonable to me. Although it may be racist.

Little towns on i70 western Colorado, might be a two bedroom one bathroom house in little community, will have eight or nine pickups part close to the door. Every. Single. House.
