Dem Rep. Robert Garcia: Thinking of Immigration as a Security Issue Means We Can’t See It as Economic Necessity
Breitbart ^ | 04/06/2024 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 04/06/2024 2:00:55 PM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) said that because we’ve lumped immigration in with border security, we can’t think of immigration as an economic necessity because it’s viewed as a security issue.

Host Ali Velshi said, “Congressman, I’m always — I’m concerned about, in this country, we have, accidentally or otherwise, decided to treat immigration as a security threat, as opposed to an economic matter. We’ve done this — immigration falls under the Department of Homeland Security, which I’ve always thought, I understand why it was done after 9/11, but it feels like it was actually a mistake. Most other countries think of immigration as an economic imperative, and they think about security at their borders as a separate matter. We’ve lumped the two together, and now it becomes impossible for Americans to think about it as an economic imperative that it is, because we think about it as a security matter.”

I wasn’t aware of that knot. Doesn’t look practical for a street hanging, though. Some ingenuity required.

Even if American citizens' low birth rate means we have to allow immigration to fill jobs and provide taxes to keep Social Security and Medicare afloat, it doesn't mean that we should do it the way that it is currently happening.

We need to institute a program more like other countries based on a point system so that we only take in people who will be able to fill the jobs where there are true vacancies, and not just as a way to keep wages down.

Regardless of the need for filling jobs, we also should keep immigration to a level where assimilation can occur. We can't take in millions because we can't assimilate millions.

Finally, if it turns out that we really need to have an ever expanding population in order to prop up the economy, then that means our economy is a Pyramid Scheme. So rather than worrying about importing in foreigners, we should figure out why our economy is so screwed up that it became a Ponzi Scheme.

I shared Rocky III's 1972 population message to The U.S. the other day but didn't include President Nixon's reply nor the response he got based on his reply to Rocky III's recommendations so here's the whole story as I saw it two years ago.

Politicians, especially democrats, might appear to be embracing stupidity, but there's one thing they know how to do and do well and that's how to follow their masters orders.

Who amongst US thinks the masters are stupid? If they're not stupid What is it that drives them?

It was used in a James Bond film. He used his shoestring to climb a rope to kill bad guys. . I always used one climbing up a ladder stand. Easy knot. Not really a knot. You won’t fall.

That’s all it ever is with Mexicans.

He’s not an American, he’s Mexican.

That’s the nation and people he’s loyal to.

He doesn’t belong in our Congress. Or even our country, which he thinks is illegitimate.

People need to understand who they are and how they think.
