Poland Calls on NATO Allies to Raise Defence Spending to Three Per Cent of GDP
Breitbart ^ | 03/11/2024 | BREITBART LONDON

WARSAW, Poland (AP) – Poland’s president on Monday called on other members of the NATO alliance to raise their spending on defense to 3% of their gross domestic product as Russia puts its economy on a war footing and pushes forward with its invasion of Ukraine.

President Andrzej Duda made his call both in remarks in Warsaw and in a piece published by The Washington Post. His appeal came on the eve of a visit to the White House, where U.S. President Joe Biden will receive both him and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday.

“Russia´s imperialistic ambitions and aggressive revisionism are pushing Moscow toward a direct confrontation with NATO, with the West and, ultimately, with the whole free world,” Duda said in the op-ed.

During the Cold War we had the USSR practically surrounded. We were in their backyard. We had the Monroe Doctrine since 1820 IIRC.

Globalization exists everywhere.

For example, Russia’s globalized network of friends and allies is pretty large.
It is composed of Russia, North Korea, Belarus, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua. All of these countries are hardcore communist nations except for Russia, which is “only” NeoSoviet...

Russia is also tightly allied with the Islamic State of IRAN. Together they are bombing parts of Europe - right now as we speak.

IRAN (and unofficially Russia as well) are also proactively pushing HAMAS-HEZBOLLAH-HOUTHIS to attack our Israeli friends and our civilian ships in the Red Sea.

I call that a vast globalized terror apparatus.

Nope-

Before the war (compared to the US alone), now they are mobilizing so the numbers are skewed:

Russia had:

—An Army 55% ours. (now with a draft and mobilization they are at 500,000, but even last year it was far less)

—An Air Force 47% ours.

—A Navy 43% ours.

—They have few allies.

—Weak allies.

—44% our population.

—40% the number of men reaching military age.

—1/5 our PPP.

—1/10 our GDP.

—~1/10 our defense spending.

—~1/3 our IC in manpower.

—Less industry. Russia has a whopping 1.83% of the global manufacturing base while we have ~15.87%. We have 8.7 -TIMES- their manufacturing base.

—Less high tech. That's why you see the Russians employ primitive technologies in many of their weapons systems. What 5th gen fighter do they have? None.

—Russia has one smaller POS carrier, while we have 11 super carriers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_carriers_of_the_United_States_Navy We also have 7 carriers we don't even classify as such but are comparable to Russia's one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasp-class_amphibious_assault_ship

—They have 20% the number of satellites in orbit we do. 1,552 vs. 7,558.

—They do not have a Central and South America (where we sometimes reach back to) for a near limitless supply of bodies which are trained (i.e. Mexico, Brazil, Columbia has lots of folks with military training). We're using them right now in Ukraine, guess where many of the mercenaries come from?

—Their Special Operations and Spetsnaz are ~1/2 our size.

—Russia was spending no more of it's GDP on its war machine than we were, ~3.8%-4.1% annually before the war.

You and I have gone through this before, by the numbers.

***Please tell me (((ONE))) area where Russia enjoys parity with the US, other than their nuclear deterrence?***

Please let me know where any one of these points I make is incorrect (but do use pre-2022 - before the mobilization numbers) or if you want the source?

BTW, we are still in Iraq, and Libya, and Syria... We just don't talk about it.

Russia today is #5 on the world stage in conventional forces.

They are no longer the super/global power they once were.

Ukraine is a difficult task for them which is requiring them to mobilize, draft, switch over to a war-time economy (production of consumer products is greatly reduced).

FYI- by comparison, when you had the Soviet Union, their military was 3.5 times the size of what Russia has today, they were spending ~3 times what they were in 2021 on defense in terms of % of GDP. Back then they had the Warsaw Pact with East Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Albania backing them up. Yes, in 1986 the threat was very real. Today the threat is a boogieman. He lives in your imagination.

It’s not them sensing our weakness, it’s us sensing theirs.

We have been kicking them in the balls for years and pretending as if we’re some victim and defender of human rights, sovereignty, and democracy as we grab more and more of their sphere of influence and put it under our control. We are building military bases along their border, station missile defense in Eastern Europe, withdraw from the Ballistic Missile Treaty. You know what a dog will do when cornered, right?

Well, what do you think would happen if Russian troops did just go home? Do you think Ukrainian troops would follow them and invade Russia?

Leave it to the Chicken Littles on here to turn a commonsense proposal, one that would benefit America and NATO countries alike, into a harbinger of WWIII. LOL.

The Poles lived under Russian tyranny after WWII for decades.

They are not going back.

Unlike Joe Biden, the Poles understand that strength, not weakness, is a preffered effective deterrent.

The Poles have a valiant warrior tradition.ALL OF NATO should listen.

Here is some of it:

This is the accurate history that every American should know about Ukraine.

Thank you for posting it.

What happened with the Minsk Accords is a travesty.

IN fact, this is an Obama based violation of Minsk.

The way I look at it Obama unleashed demographic warfare with his Arab Soring campaign, pointed at the soft underbelly of Russia and Ukraine. Millons of Muslims were o the march NOrth, but Putin was having none of it.He seized Crimea to prevent the huge migration of Muslims into Russia and Ukraine, thereby diverting the masses of Muslim refugees to attempt other means of entering Western Europe rtaher than Eastern Europe.

Putin powed Obama repeated ly for the fascist that Obama was...BIden continues this foolery by subjugating Ukraine economically and violated the Minsk accords in a continuation of Obaa;s anti Russia policy, IN fact the Obama Dems and their lefty Marxist supporters made a false boogie man oout of Russia.

I do not support the expansionist wet dreams of Putin, but the fact is that Obama and Biden created this mess by violating the Minsk accords.NOw Biden will not truly allow Ukrauie t9i defend itself, sending meere trickles of ordance to Ukrauine , creating a staoemate in the DOnbas and assuring war for years to come, if not a nuclear war. In addition Obama/Biden’s violation of the Minsk Accords
cryuatalized an anti westren axis of China, Iran,Russia and NOrth Korea, with Oran soon to have buclear weapons.

This is waht these liberal fascists like CLinton, Obama, Biden, Jake Sullivan and Anthony Blinken have done. They have put EUrpe and America on the path to war and niw we must face it by increasing US military spending .

America is not stuoid...why do yiou think recruitihg is down, who wants to die in the Donbas next to a couple of transgender queers in an adjacent fox hole corn holing each other?

Its time to oust these leftist idiots we have and get back to preserving world peace through deterrance. Then is we have to fight, well at least we will have been prepared.

That is the most one-sided claim of Zeepers.

Amazingly, they are kind to it.

But they are Zeepers, so…

So, Russian war crimes abettors are now escalated into Iranian/Hamas/Hezbollah war crimes abettors. in the last week, Russians have moved troops to the Syria/Israel border and are deploying fighter aircraft in Syria to dissuade IDF attacks on Iranian troops in Syria.

Abetting Russia in opposition to Ukraine but abetting Russia/Iran is severely over the line

You seem to have also omitted the abetting of Ukrainian war crimes, and promoting war, and toppling governments worldwide, and forcing every form of perversity upon other nations, and so much more.

Surely, an oversight??

The picture you posted showing “NATO DEFENSE SPENDING / United States $880B” is misleading.

The $880B is America’s ENTIRE defense spending. It’s NOT a direct spending for NATO or a NATO fee.

There are no Ukranian war crimes, merely Russian crimes against humanity abettors whining in total disillusion.

You have morphed into de facto Hamas terrorist abettors. You have morphed into Iranian terrorist surrogate abettor reality

You have morphed into Houthi Red Sea war crimes promoters.

There are no Ukranian war crimes,

And this is why you cannot be objective and engage in critical thinking...

Your emotions preclude objectivity and consequently, actual thought.

You have morphed into de facto Hamas terrorist abettors.
You have morphed into Iranian terrorist surrogate abettor reality
You have morphed into Houthi Red Sea war crimes promoters.

And this leaves you with denial and...

Ad hominem attacks

"Short for argumentum ad hominem, refers to several types of arguments, which are fallacious. Typically this term refers to a rhetorical strategy where the speaker attacks the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself. "

Sad bert, but here you are.

That is the most one-sided claim of Zeepers.

It's not generally the "Zeepers" who talk about WWIII breaking out if Russia's every demand is not catered to.

Partly correct. Zeepers are in denial that NATO involvement will be WWIII.

It is not Russia's every demand, but some accomodation between the desires of both sides.
