I demand reparations too, my dad was a kid in a Japanese concentration camp during WWII in China. I want reparations from both the Japanese and the Chinese. Now.

Exactly. For myself, I don’t know of any of my ancestors who ever owned a slave in the U.S., as they were pretty much all Midwestern farmers back then. Not many were even in this country during the Civil War.
So I wasn’t a slaveowner, and my ancestors weren’t either. No reparations from me.
If my great great great great great great great grandmother was raped, shouldn’t my family get government funds today?

My idea of reparations: I will purchase a one way airline ticket for one African American person to the African nation of their choice. That’s one way mind you, there’s no coming back to America, you be gone and you stay gone. I wonder how many blacks would take me up on the offer. I hear Ethiopia is great this time of year.
Many, or most, of those African slave kidnappers and sellers did so under the authority of Islam.
I’ve done some fairly extensive geneology research on my family, and there are several slave owners in my ancestry. That being said, I don’t owe anyone a damned thing.
If you are a descendent of slaves here in the US, the only reason you were even born was the existence of slavery. If not for that institution, as horrible as it was, your ancestors never would have met and procreated. You never would have been born.
It likewise baffles me how nobody mentions how our Founders fought against The Empire prior to Independence to try to put a stop to some of this slaving, and were met with the veto pen from the crown.
If these people want reparations, tell them to go demand it from current day Britain, as well as current day African countries.
OK, I'm listening.
What do they offer in return? I mean, $74 billion is a lot to ask for, what do the payers get?

Union deaths in the civil war
the end of jim crowe
voting rights.
civil rights act
affirmative action
the great society
dei
Yes - it should be paid by the Democrat party - the party of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, etc.
but for those who have both, they have to write a check to themselves.
Same here. To find any slave owners in my ancestry I had to go back 200 years. They were in Kentucky (a non-Confederate state). To find slave owners in my wife's ancestry I had to go back 175 years. They were in South Carolina.
Unless your ancestors all immigrated here after the Civil War, chances are that there are slave owners in your ancestry.
Muhammad Ali said "Thank God my granddaddy got on that boat!" when asked what he thought of Africa after winning the "Rumble in the Jungle" fight against George Foreman in Africa.
So it is long past time for the Democratic party to pay billions of dollars in reparations to the generations of Black Americans whose ancestors they enslaved.

Democrats will GLADLY do this (and more)! Not only will they use the Federal Reserve’s money creating power to pay for it, they’ll be on record a gleefully handing a lot of black Americans a boatload of free money. If blacks weren’t squarely in the Democrats camp before, then they sure would be now....that’s democracy for you.
Or else what?
