Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is facing criticism from Hollywood residents as homeless encampments are returning despite her efforts to move people from the streets into hotels and motels.
Under her predecessor, Eric Garcetti, and under California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), the focus of homeless policy in the state has been to use government money to pay for hotel or motel rooms for homeless people, offering them alternative accommodation. But that approach does not address the root causes of the problem: mental illness; drug abuse; permissive law enforcement; and the high cost of living in the state, especially when it comes to housing.

The homeless in the rest of L.A. have heard if you set up camp in Hollywood they will move you to a free hotel room.

Can you imagine working all your,life to establish a quality motel or hotel, pour yourself into it, work day and night to make it a success, then have a gov or mayor or whatever come along and tell you that you must kick everyone out and open it up to the homeless? And you must accept whatever price the gov gives you for each room?
Wow! People are seriously gonna reconsider start8ng up any new motels and hotels if all their hard work willed in the homeless being foisted on them to destroy the places and drive off travelers and whatnot who wish to stay somewhere.
That’s just what I’d like to do- stop at a motel, get a room next to the mentally Ill, the drug addicted, the violent-
This is the “Democracy” that the left is so worried about “losing” (forced takeovers of people s businesses so that the homeless and mentally ill can destroy the businesses/rooms/courtyards etc.

They’re also returning to the overpasses on the 110 near downtown - they’ve been cleared out repeatedly- only for the homeless to return again and again and...
They destroy hotel rooms and apartments they’re given.
Drug users won’t go inside b/c they can’t bring their drugs - when this is allowed, the entire place becomes a drug den - and is destroyed - and then condemned. Ditto for untreated mentally ill.
They must be forced into either treatment or jail - the way it used to be.

The proposal includes:
Prohibiting camping on city streets, sidewalks and parks.
Creating state enforcement tools to ensure local governments comply.
Increasing funding for homeless shelters, while requiring occupants to not use drugs and utilize workforce services.
Increasing funding for substance abuse and mental health treatment.”
WHAT A CONCEPT!

If indeed they are offering them rooms but they insist on living on the street, just keep plowing their tents under with street sweepers each night until they get the message or just move to San Francisco. Either way, the streets are relieved of them

Shhhh. You’re going to ruin it for me. I was planning to play homeless when I visit my buddy in LA so I could get the free 4 star hotel room.
I was also planning to fly there for free by presenting myself as an illegal to CBP in Eagle Pass, but Gov Abbott ruined that plan. I won’t be able to get the $5000 debit card unless I find my own way to the Arizona border.
What looked like a free luxury vacation is starting to disappear. Maybe I’ll just stay here in Honduras and enjoy the weather, the low prices, and the lack of homeless people.

B-b-but according to certain freepers the homeless are “poor suffering veterans” who are “victims” of illegal immigration rather than the addicts and mental cases we see all the time.
