We bought a Speed Queen washer last year. Cost quite a bit more than most other washers, but I think it’ll last a while. As you said, we got the model with the least electronic stuff we could find. It’s not completely manual-everything, though.

The completely manual kit has a box of rocks to place in the stream.

I bought the Speed Queen 500 out of a store in New Jersey - not a store around my area of Florida carried that model.

Best washer I’ve ever had. Uses plenty of water and if you forgot to put in a sock you just open the lid and add it. I can do a large load of clothes in less than thirty minutes and there’s enough rinse water I’m not dealing with detergent residue.

What liberal ‘elties’ don’t get is that EVERYTHING HAS AN ENERGY SIGNATURE. So if you’re replacing appliances every 8 years rather than every 23 years you’re wasting WATER and ENERGY.

It seems to be the same old story with a lot of stuff sold nowadays. Too expensive to buy, breaks down too soon after purchase & you can’t afford to fix it either. The cheapest appliances may be the best appliances, although I’ve heard that certain brands are more susceptible to breakdown. If you are lucky, maybe an appliance dealer might tell you which brands tend to be troublesome.

I am in an apt building. I did the wash on wednesday and used the Speedqueen front loader washer which was installed maybe 3 months ago. It was a used model then.
The clothes get wet but there is no water to soak the clothes and the rinse cycle is no better.

I smell the laundry detergent from others that use the washer. Not enough water to rinse the clothes and wash out the washer.
Plus the clothes just get tossed thru the dirty water, what little there is of it.

I notified the manager who notified the repair guy who is coming out as one of the dryers is not working.
There are big complaints about front loaders when doing a search that there is not enough water and mold and leaks.
I have seen the Speedqueen leak already and not enough water. Waiting on mold...

The two other washers are top loaders. The top loader will fill the tub and the clothes wash better.
We need to get rid of the EPA as they have made appliances not work well.
