Cohen: Trump Can’t Afford NYC Fraud Judgment — He’s in ‘Complete and Total Panic Mode’
Breitbart ^ | 02/16/2024 | Pam Key

Posted on 02/16/2024 5:35:14 PM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Michael Cohen, a former personal attorney for Donald Trump, said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that the former president can not afford the New York City civil fraud trial judgment against him.

Cohen said, “Where does he come up with $355 million? That’s exclusive of the $86 million or $88.6 million that he owes to E. Jean Carroll in that civil case. This is a staggering amount of money for virtually anybody, maybe there’s a handful of people in the entire country who can afford to write a check for half a billion dollars, Donald is not one of them. Right now the pressing issue if he’s going to appeal, how does he appeal? Does he put up a cash bond? Where is he getting the cash bond from? He’s not going to find somebody to bond it for him. He couldn’t find somebody to bond $5.3 million in the E. Jean Carroll case.”

The case is a NYS case. There is nowhere outside of NYS for it to be held. No, they won’t see that money, but if I understand correctly, to appeal in NYS Trump has to put up a bond for the full amount.

The bank testified that the difference is normal - after all, Trump is declaring what he thinks he can sell it for and the bank is determining what they think they can sell it for under bad conditions of foreclosure - and that any asset value over $100 million was sufficient for the loan terms he received. No one, not even James, disputes that Trumps assets were over 20 times that amount.

BS, once this is appealed to a NON-DEMOCRAT court, it will be tossed out like the garbage it is.

There aren’t any of those in the path in NYC. That said, the rulings and penalties are so egregious that they raise Constitutional issues and may make it to Federal court if the NY Court of Appeals doesn’t throw it out.

If you believe that I’ve got a bridge in Brook.....naw.

This is New York style politics. Trump knows and practices it well.

We just watched he and his henchmen destroy a good human being and someone who will become a leader of the party after this sad chapter is written.

If he has 4 billion..he doesn;t need your money for his campaign.

I caught that too just before accessing this thread.

Trump can afford it, but it’s doubtful if that sort of harsh judgement against him will stick.

Like others said, the left is in the panic mode.

All these lawsuits and charges against Trump do is make him more popular to the voting public and make the rats look like 3rd world banana republic dictators trying to stifle out competition.

Unless RICO is involved, I still cannot figure out what business a judge has declaring who can or cannot have/run a business in his jurisdiction. It appears that in this judges mind some kind of fraud has occurred, but the testimony I have seen does not even approach that.

Weird ...

Not that I think Trump should pay a dollar to these fools but it sure would be funny if Trump paid this off with an equity loan against Mar-A-Lago!

That would defeat the entire false narrative that Trump overvalued Mar-A-Lago to get a loan.
