If there's nothing to hide, then the portal shouldn't be a problem.

“If there’s someone in those school districts who’s unhappy, they should be encouraged to go to the authorities in that school district.

Yeah, right! And when they do they will be labeled domestic terrorists with all the available threats!

There should be not public school indoctrination across the country.

In fact, there should be no indoctrination for anybody, at any age, and not for any religion or race or gender.

Indoctrination is only necessary when the people need to be forced to adhere to a specific discipline or belief which they oppose to begin with. Hence, in communist countries.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

They can’t just stop the indoctrinating in schools. They have to weed out the heavily skidmarked undershorts who have taught this nonsense or put it in place. Purge them out of the education system completely.

I’m not in Indiana nor am I familiar with the abilities of Ben Kew who wrote this piece.

That said, the AG says: “I’m not going to go and start investigating schools. No. 1, I don’t have the statutory authority to go in there. But this is going to be a portal, a transparent portal where we can cut through the rumor mill.”

And the Dem state Rep. Ed DeLaney says: “If there’s someone in those school districts who’s unhappy, they should be encouraged to go to the authorities in that school district. (Rokita) does not have a roving policy to investigate anything that he thinks is wrong.”

It would appear that both of them are saying to parents, “You’re on your own.”

Which they are*, but most parents won’t be getting in the faces of school board members, who will silence them or have them escorted out.

Call me a pessimist but this “portal” sounds like it won’t be effective unless what it uncovers is bad enough to convince parents to remove the kids from school. Nor will most parents use it. It may create a false sense of security and authority, temporarily.

Better than nothing, but not a solution.

Homeschooling, school choice, tax relief — would help.

*at least if you wind up in a hospital you’re entitled to a patient advocate — if your child winds up in public school, you’re all he’s got and you can be escorted out for advocating.

Unless there’s legislation to that effect (and there seems to be none), then any portal would be offered by each district of its own volition and description.

Sounds like the AG was making a suggestion. I think it’s a good one. But it wouldn’t have any teeth.

Seems like a fruitful area for James O’Keefe to help parents and students to acquire hide-able cameras and record teachers doing what they claim they’re not doing.
