It is possible the other side is putting these words into Trump’s mouth.

The other side lies. They lie all the time. They’re behind in the polls, so they are going to do everything they can to tear Trump down.

Many of you trumpboys play into the Democrat’s hands by thinking, yeah, screw NATO, screw Ukraine, screw everybody.

Trump has said that the countries of NATO have to meet their obligations (basically to spend 2 percent of GDP on defense).

In Manchester, NH, just prior to the NH primary, Trump said that Europe needs to increase its support of Ukraine. This isn’t the same thing as saying we should cut our aid.

Trump is a deal maker. He bargains. This is they approaches international relations. Maybe it’s not the best way, but it’s his way.

Trump’s positions on NATO and Ukraine are correct. EUrope should do more. But our goals should be to reform NATO, not to end NATO.

The source linked is "Press TV", an Iranian government propaganda outlet the likes of sputnik or TASS.

“Trump’s positions on NATO and Ukraine are correct. EUrope should do more. But our goals should be to reform NATO, not to end NATO.”

Throughout human history alliances between nations have been constantly shifting. Trump is correct in essentially saying we should always be evaluating the value of our alliances and if the no longer have value they should be renegotiated or ended.

Remember Trump renegotiated NAFTA, perceiving the trade deal was no longer benefiting the U.S. He essentially said that if the EU plus Britain, with a combined economy the size of the US, would not pay its share of the cost of defending Europe, then the treaty was of limited or no value to the U.S.

In the last year Russia ended arms control talks with the U.S. when the U.S. sent massive amounts of weapons and aid to Ukraine and the U.S. placed heavy sanctions on the U.S. economy. Why would Russia want to talk military arms control with a nation attacking it economically and funding a proxy military war in Ukraine?

Alliances and treaties between nations must be a win win proposition for all participants. As times and circumstances change, alliances must also change.

NATO is cold war relic that has become a business and money laundering operation for the political elite and the defense industry.

We've gone out of our way to stir up conflicts to keep it going.
