President Biden Urged to Seize Texas National Guard - Joe Manchin Calls for National Emergency
ReD State ^ | Jan. 24, 2024 | Ward Clark

On Wednesday, Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX) called on President Biden to "seize" the Texas National Guard by calling them into Federal service, removing them from the command and control of the State of Texas. This is presumably in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's defiant tone towards the Biden Administration on closing the border.

A Texas congressman has urged President Biden to take the state's National Guard under federal control if Republican Governor Greg Abbott defies a Supreme Court ruling allowing federal agents to remove razor wire from a section of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The call was made by Democratic Representative Joaquin Castro after Abbott posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying the Texas National Guard would continue to "hold the line in Eagle's Pass," a popular migrant crossing point, stating: "Texas will not back down from our efforts to secure the border in Biden's absence."

Castro re-shared Abbott's post on his own X account, adding: "Governor Greg Abbott is using the Texas National Guard to obstruct and create chaos at the border.

As of this writing, there has been no action on this by the Biden Administration.

This idea by Rep. Castro raises some interesting questions:

1) Were the President to activate the Texas National Guard under Title 10, what would their orders be? To assist federal officers in throwing open the gates?

2)What happens if members of the Texas National Guard refuse activation and instead continue to follow the orders of TX-ANG officers and Governor Abbott?

3)What if the Texas Guard splits, and former comrades end up facing each other across that red line?

4)If the Pentagon sends federal troops... SNIP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

they don’t FEAR the people

The covid mandates tested the people and demonstrated there was nothing for the government to fear.

Can’t the invaders just cross into Arizona even if Texas is boarded up?

There will be no “civil war”.
Is it possible, in the vein of “is it possible I may win 1 million dollars”? Yes.
Is it probable? No. Not likely or imminent or unavoidable.
Unfortunately Congress has abdicated authority that they have to use Impeachment to punish...
That the issue is as serious as it is demands purposeful responses by House Republicans to use all the levers within their control to address the immigration crusts at the U.S. border...

We’ll see if House Republicans are up to the challenge.

And how likely is that?
There may not be a civil war, I quite agree that's extremely unlikely. But a...situation...on the border would make the issue much clearer to the public than anything they could say in the gaseous halls of Congress. Impeachments, censures, ho-hum. Federal troops clashing with Texans, an attempted (and failed) arrest of a governor, that there's real!

I don't know enough about the governor himself, but it sure looks like history is calling him up.

Perhaps because it would be illegal - see posse Coitatus

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act

Not sure how this would apply but since it is the state that is defying the Supreme Court activating the National Guard to enforce a Supreme Court ruling may fall under law enforcement.

President Biden would (legally) be better off sending the FBI to arrest the Governor but then that opens another can of worms.

Juan doesnt know or care that the Guard gets called into Federal duty only when the State governor requests it.
I guess the feds could arrange a coup of every state governor standing in their way. Bringing our foreign policy into domestic play.

.... as a matter of fact, we make them here.

This is why Louisiana suffered during Katrina as the State Governor dithered delayed and cried, refusing to authorize Bush to nationalize the Guard, necessitating having actual active duty forces brought in to suppress the snipers targeting first responders in flooded areas. Remember General Honore taking charge? Bush being criticized for violating Posse Comitatus?

It’s also why Trump was limited using National Guard during the violent BLM and Antifa attacks on the US Capitol. State Governors were slow or reluctant to agree to transfer command authority of their Guard units. Trump was forced to deputize many troops as Federal Marshals to use them in a federal response.

DC has its own rules for its Guard units…was a factor in J6 response. Don’t remember exacts

This could be VERY bad. Unlike the Republicans the RAT party probably war gamed this scenario and determined that Biden federalizing the National Guard will:
Be promoted in the media as Texas violating a lawful order from the SC to keep the border open.
Set up a constitutional crisis with Texas that Traitor Joe will ultimately win.
Reinforce the narrative that MAGA voters are insurrectionists.
Make FJB look tough and decisive.
Convince millions of illegal alien future voters that the RAT party is on their side and Repubs are the enemy.
With the support of the future migrant voting block the Repub party will never win another Presidential election or control either house of congress or appoint any future SC justices.
Game. Set. Match. for the RAT party.

I would imagine that that exact scenario is quietly already underway in anticipation of an attempt at NG federalization.

Can Abbott arrest Castro like he arrested people who dared to keep their business open and make a living during his covid lockdown?

I am asking for opinion here. Could Gov. deputize the NG and assign them to Texas Rangers. Can a NG soldier resign? Asking for a friend.

Both of them are rabid commies.

A long time ago, I wrote a letter to the local newspaper saying just that.

The rag refused to print it.
